I can't tell you what I paid, but it would definitely make a strong showing on the DNJournal list if I wanted it to. It probably cost me three years of my life keeping the deal alive for the past three months as well, but it was worth it.

I paid enough that the guy on the street would call me crazy, while a knowledgeable domainer would call me very smart.

As the investment has probably been in the region of $xxx,xxx I would pay a display ad in Fortune, Forbes, The Washington Post, Maxim etc. Possibly even Cosmopolitan. ( it would make a great Birthday Gift.)

It could also offer a multi millionaire, with a son called Mark, a nice long term investment.

Maybe you could contact owners of other popular names on .com and share the cost of marketing.


While this may cost a few G's ( nothing in relation to what the domain cost or is worth), the publicity would bring extra parking income and generate great interest.

For sure there is a millionaire with a big enough ego to want his email address to read [email protected]

I'm sure the Real Pro's here will appraise the value of this cautiously in the mid $xxx,xxx range but if you believe in premium domains and make the effort, the domain could fetch millions. IMHO.

you could also try advertising in www.robbreport.com which is also a magazine for the rich & the ridiculous.

I used to get it a few years ago, there are ads for the best of just about everything from english telephone boxes for thousands of pounds to sculptures - paintings, helicopter,cars, boats and private jets.

How about a Vintage Grumman Goose waterplane for $500,000 !! :hehe:

Just about the most expensive of everything you can image - it could make an amazing gift to someone rich who already has everything else !

Can't say I remember seeing any domains advertised but I was'nt looking for them then either, could be a great way to reach a very very wealthy group of big spenders.


After all - there is only one Mark.com !

It's a great name... At first when I saw the thread title I thought you were one of those guys that wanted a domain appraised but you didn't actually own it. Wow you are so lucky, like everyone says low-mid $xxx xxx.

Actually, I started chasing the name last summer, but the last three months seemed to take years off of my life. Either way, it was tremendous perserverance. Mark Cuban just emailed me back (during the Mavericks game against San Antonio). He said 2.5 MM hope it works for you...in reply to my suggestion of 2.5 Million. I responded that Sirius should pay that...just like Yahoo.com paid 5.7 Billion for Broadcast.com, and that you never get your price unless you ask. At least I got his attention and he knows where to reach me.

Good for Mark Cuban. Apples and Oranges. There probably aren't many Mark Cuban's in the world, but there are quite a bit named Mark.

At least I made Mark Cuban aware of the name in just one day. He actually emailed me back again and wished me luck. You never know when a billionaire will let ego take over. I plan on sitting on this name for a while unless someone wants to really pay me off....enjoy the victory for a bit.

It's an amazing world when you can email the owner of an NBA basketball team and have correspondence during a playoff game (probably half-time), and then get emailed back after the game. Gotta love it.
