By carrying out a whois query shortly after the catch. In this case, whois reveals SnapNames nameservers and Memorial Dr. Suite address which I associate with SnapNames:

NS2.INTERIMNAMESERVER.COM

The address won't always be SnapNames (if, for example the name was caught by a registrar they don't own but are in partnership with) but the nameservers usually give them away. Nameservers sometimes display as 'no nameserver.' In this case, wait a while and try again.

A dud for domainers, but with some small (xxxxx) development by an end-user, could be cool as something to track people (as in, aggregate public results for people on Twitter, Facebook, forums, blogs, oPenID) from one site... ok, that sounds more like stalk.com than lurk.com heheh....
