Just got F1R.com on Christmas of all days. I'm very excited about this domaion.

Formula 1 Racing

McClaren F1r

Even F1R.com is used in a myriad of "how to buy internet domains" posted around the Internet.

Sure, 3 characters but WOW!!! What 3 characters!!!

I'm jazzed, obviously. And as a huge fan of the Multi-Billion Dollar F1Racing industry, I think it's a winner.

What are your thoughts?

I LOVE F1Racing!

IMO, I don't think you should develop it, for it may cause some TM issues. If you do develop it, it shouldn't be about F1Racing.

LOL, nvm. ;)

I am still learning about the domain industry, so I can't give you an accurate appraisal, but I'd say mid $xx,xxx. :)

Wow..... ummmm no. This domain is not going to fetch $xx,xxx - not even close. However it is a nice 3Character domain name and your probably in the middle xxx pack. With some obviousl development I think your in good shape and obviously its on a topic you love. Nice snag.

this domain is a nice 3 character, but realistically it is not worth that much for wholesale value --- but it is good enough as a domain to bring in end users which obviously means more money. from a wholesale point of view, mid xxx-low xxxx for this domain, but for end user it can be worth a lot more depending on how bad they want the domain, nonetheless it is a very nice grab. Park, see revenue and traffic, that can also boost up the value.

low - mid $xxx as most other LNL.com(s) unless you go developing and positioning, then the numbers may be significantly higher. until this has happened, your F1R is a good suggestion for formula 1, but thats about where it ends. :/ i'd approach other formula 1 sites and see if they have any interest in this domain, for the end user, i'd shoot for high $xxx

best of luck

Thanks for the comments guys. I appreciate your opinions.

I think I tend to lean toward those that feel the domain has higher value than standard LNL dot commons due to the simple fact that it is pretty common not only for F1 but for automotive uses in general. It is pretty "generic" within the industry.

Who here knows or drives a "type-R", a gt-R or an F1-R? Telesat is VERY committed to the F1R name for their services as well... so I guess FIA can't be that worried about it.

Anyway, I love it. I can think of a 1000 ways to use it but in the end, I think I'm going to develope it into an F1 fan site, stats tracking, teams, etc.

Speed is the essense of F1 and Racing. It's faster to say F1R.com than to say FormulaOneRacing.com or even F1Racing.com.

I win! LOL! ;)

Anyway, thanks again :)

Yeah if you think you won than should this thread really be in Appraisal forums? :hehe:

I'm just saying why I'm excited about it... Obviously, I'm emotionally involved. I'm consulting you folks seeking a more pragmatic view.

Besides, the "I win" bit was about having the shortest of the names, nothing more.

Run of the mill LNL.com domain.

When you think of Formula 1, do you instantly think, oh, yeah! F1R! No?

I would appraise this at $450-$600.

I do.... I DID! That's why I bought it... er, Santa brought it to me ;)

Ferrari continually named their Chassis the "F1-r" before they switched to using F(enter the year) like the current F2007

"r" has always been short for Racing. Any F1 fan or racing enthusiast sees "F1R" as F1 Racing just like seeing Co2 reads "Carbon Dioxide"

'Cause for us, RACING is BREATHING :)

It was dropped and I snagged it. Found the guy that had previously owned it on another board. He sounds Pi$$ed!!! Blankety Domain Squatter STOLE it from him just because his credit card didn't pass.

yeah, it's all MY fault. ;)

Who would let it drop?! Shame on him/her...

I think alot of people do it by accident... change credit cards and the account is set to auto renew. Then, a year or more after they buy a domain, they get an email saying some charge didn't go through and they knee-jerk pass it off as spam. Just ignore it.

Next thing, they get a note saying the domain is GONE. Then, they look at the price during the "recovery" period and cough up a hairball.

While they sit and sniffle, the domain gets dumped.

Sad.

Just put up a page tucked away on my GoPC server... what do you think?

gopc.com/f1r

Do you think I'm biting into any TM issues with that? I'm building it as a fan site, just like any number of fan sites out there... only with a cooler namel

All the pages are basically the index page at this point, just have that one done. No Adsense or any other ads in place either.

Just want your input on design elements and TM issues.

Also, where would you put the ads based on the design? I have my ideas, just wondering what you think.

Thanks!

I sold a LLN.com for $125, and 3 character has it listed as the average right now. 1xx-2xx, but it does have great possibilities for Formula 1 Racing.

I've been watching and logging 3 character dot coms over the past few weeks and I've averaged the last 24 domains that have sold at $298.63 per domain.

That's a whole lot more than $125!!! :)

It seems these 3 char dot coms are coming up.

That is good "in general"... but with a relevant domain like F1R.com, I would think it would have more specific appeal. Especially with all the product names, car names, team names and other names/terms using "F1R".

Thanks for all your input... It's highly appreciated.

actually i see F1R as f1 race, but then again i'm portuguese hehehe
it is a 3 letter .com but i would apraised it as high $xxx to low $xxxx
not all domains are equal, this as great potencial as also a short and very easy to remember domain.
quite a gem you got there.
you can always ask the guy that lost the domain if he is interessed in buying back.
