Radical groups call on supporters to wage holy war against Israel and Denmark, slam Muhammad cartoons. Decrees by the Saved Sect and the Al-Ghurabaa organizations, both founded by followers of notorious Islamist leader Sheikh Omar Bakri
(who was banned from Britain after the July London bombings) have called on British Muslims to "support the jihad against Israel," and to "kill those who insult the prophet Muhammad," in reference to the cartoons of Islam's prophet that appeared in the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten.

Yeah let's kill people over a cartoon of Muhammad...real intelligent...just some more Islamic radical BS...yawn!

Why does this remind me of that incedent a few years back, when a guy was brought on one of those dumb day time drama talk shows, like sally jesse or danahue or whatever, and he was told he had a secret admirer, and he found out it was a guy, and then he killed him at his trailor court later that month. Kinda has the same feeling to me. Sounds like Bakri is upset because someone called him gay, and now he is angry and must prove he is not.

Jacques Lefranc was dismissed by the owner of France Soir, as his paper became embroiled in a developing row between Muslims and European press.

How sad, the poor guy lost his job over the dumn thing.
I honestly feel sorry for the guy.

Not only is it messed up that this guy lost his job but they caved into the radicals threats and that just encourages the radicals to lash out and threatin people when they want to...this is the reason countries do not negotiate with terrorists and give in to their demands because they will just keep doing it cause they know it works...well except when they kidnap people and threatin to kill them, they haven't learned yet that nobody is going to negotiate with them...;)

Try to avoid calling someone's religion dumb ;)

I'd have done the same thing if I thought this guy's actions were threatening the safety of my employees.

So it's not ok to have freedom of speech but it is ok to threatin to kill people over a cartoon making fun on a religious figure?

Whoa cowboy, slow down!
Hmm, let me read that again. scanning for the word religion, religion, religion, religion. Hmm, nope, didn't use that word. Hey, I know, thats probably because I was refering to the cartoon. Hmm, yeah, cool, glad we got that squared away.

Hey, I guess so, its the NEW CRAZY world we live in, where, hey, you better not say that, or I will kill you, but I can say I will kill you over what you may or may not have intended from what you said, because I am a minority, and you dont want to make us angry, because the radical activists will step in and put you in your place.

this is the reason countries do not negotiate with terrorists and give in to their demands

Agree! thats why I do not like the fact they did it.

I'd have done the same thing if I thought this guy's actions were threatening the safety of my employees.
What? So basicly by saying this, you condone the actions of the terrorists.
Because
A) you do not care about your rights
B) you are giving in to a terrorist demand
C) you dont belive your government would stand up for your rights

Maybe I am just way out of line with my comments, but the world is getting way out of hand with this stuff. So, please feel free to flame away at me, becuase as DN Tycoon said, its freedom of speach baby!

I didn't say it was ok, but it has happened.

I read your post as meaning that people being offended by a cartoon was dumb, apologies if this is not the case.

Why? It's a private company, not a government. Private companies do not have "do not negotiate with terrorists" rules. Bank employees, for example, are given instructions to cooperate fully in a robbery.

This isn't really worth responding to. More to life than "with us or against us" etc...

No, that is the case. Its a cartoon. Its called humor.

Nevermind, I think I am done with this one

True colors are showing in many areas. I don't mean this to be a general statement about everyone of a single religion but there's a serious problem here. Other world religions are mocked on an almost daily basis. There is outrage but at the same time there aren't other religions with believers killing, kidnapping and harrasing because of something as silly as cartoons.

they threatened Norway & Sweden as well. I wonder when they finally grow up down there and stop taking everything so seriously. The drawings were never made with the intent to offend anyone, nor for people to start world war 3. I guess this is what we can expect when people "get brainwashed" basically from the day they were born.

I think we've wasted way too much time on this topic already, I don't see the big deal - should we blow up Kanye west for his portrait of Jesus in one of his music videos? I don't think so..

Lets all just move on..

To us it's humour because we come from a different part of the world, we have a different culture, upbringing and religion. We need to be tolerant of others and not ignore the effects of our actions on them or dismiss them as being stupid.

This goes both ways....

Personally I think all religion is dumb, but that's a different thread and I don't deny people's right to practice religion.

What is really getting old though are these brainless radicals who think it is OK to go out and riot and kill people because they didn't like a cartoon. This is borderline retarded.

It a cartoon. Big deal if it offends their senses. I see cartoons all the time that offend me. These people are turning Islam into a joke and giving the coalition all the fuel they need to back up their argument that they are terrorists and dangerous.

It will be a sad day when we have to back down in our own countries and censor our own newspapers for fear that some radical s**theads in Indonesia are going to riot because they don't have the maturity or the intelligence to react in any other way.

The world would be a better place without religion =/

*My opinion only - don't flame me!* :p

I do agree with the above post, however I don't think it's the right place to discuss it....

This is were freedom comes into play, some people think religion supercedes peoples rights and that is far from the truth. We should not have to curb our rights to make a religion happy it should be the other way around....

From my point of view, I agree that it is silly to make such a big deal about the cartoons. But then I think, that we cannot begin to even comprehend why their reaction was like it was because they are so different from us....

No, we fully understand it, its anger! nothing more.
Someone said something they didn't like, and they acted childish, its that simple.

In that case the Iraqi war was exactly the same thing... Iraq was meant to be harbouring terrorists from 9/11, so we just went an blew up Iraq. Now isn't that childish?

I never said I condone the war!
I also never said I was bush backer!
And really, his meaning for going in was not terrorists, we all know that.
