I just regged PHQNE.COM

Phone is 4 million OVT, Google for PHQNE is only 664 so it's a snap to reach #1 :lol:

I realize it needs branding but as the logonym/alphaglyph genre is new, I wanted to show this one off. I plan to develop it as a blog or minisite.

Here's a flash concept I developed for the logo.. just to give an idea of what I have in mind for development.

Nice one! I like that. I didn't quite understand the Q at first but it makes perfect sense with the logo. I like #1 best by the way.

As for an appraisal, reg fee as it stands but with development the sky's the limit really, especially when logonyms are more widely accepted and used.

Looking forward to seeing how you develop it.

Thanks! Yes.. I think branding and development is key with any logonym/alphaglyph domain.

The Q is also close in appearance to the O normally associated with PHONE, but the speech baloon is a happy analogy as well.

I'm partial to the theme expressed in logo1.. will play with that a bit more and possibly get it done professionally.

I like the first one the best, the flash one. The little Q winking is a great effect! But I am going to be honest and say I am not too keen on the colors and it looks a bit messy. The edges are fuzzy. It may be from reformatting (I cannot for the life of me remember the proper term for this) to lower the file size?

OH and I love the name!

That logo was just a quickie that I made using inAlbum (I don't know flash myself) and it re-sized the original graphics and that caused the loss in resolution. Eventually, I'll have that logo re-done professionally .. in the meantime, I'm using a variation on the one attached to this post. It incorporates a phone and a mouse (to include VOIP). I have a blog up on the domain and am looking for a more suitable WP theme.

I think what's important here is that you emphasize the Q, unlike logo one, where you can barely tell it's a Q. The idea behind this style is that the surrounding advertising and the branding convince the brain that PHQNE stands for PHONE.

I have one idea...make the tail of the Q come out like the end of a phone cord. A problem I can see with this is that you want the name to be for mobile phones too. Maybe make it a lower case q, extend the bottom tail down into a phone cord tip and have an antenna coming from the top.

I'll definitely be experimenting with a graphic identity... first up is to get a site going. I have a tendency not to develop unless I do it right away..
