Logo and button ad needed - $20

Hi all,

I need a talented logo designer for my site http://www.sharedbit.com
The theme of my site is peer-to-peer file sharing resources.

Wanted: (1) a 400x120 size site logo, and (2) 88x31 size button ad,
Prize: $20 via PayPal, and one site-wide PR4 text link for one month.

The contest winner will be announced on next Monday 12AM EST.[/B]
(If there are very few design entries, I may have to postpone it
one or two days).

I would like the design to be aesthetically pleasing, not so commercial looking.
Whoever comes up with the most beautiful design will be the winner.

I don't have a color preference. Please do not take the color
from our current site (which is just loading a default template)..
Since the name "shared bit" comes from p2p file sharing,
the logo should somehow reflect this theme.

If you want, you can add in the logo a short secondary text for our site
such as "the ultimate peer-to-peer file sharing resource", etc.
but you are very welcome to design your logo without any secondary text.

For the 88x31 size button ad, you probably want to use
a similar color tone that you use for the logo. not required though..

One thing about the button ad:
please leave a small empty spot in the left or right side
because I have to add a number to the button image dynamically.

What would you say are the four most common files that are shared there?

The icons represent things people usually share. The girl represents the people. The hands represent everyone reaching out for things.

CD= Music
Notes= Music
Portrait= Pics
Mouse= I just put that there because i didn't know what else to put. But i will probably put something to represent videos if you want.

but I'm not sure whether I like it.
First of all, the design is too large to be a logo.
I should have specified the preferred size.. sorry about that.
I'm thinking, more like 400 x 120..

On the first look, your logo is abit too complicated to understand.
The logo does not really have to be that complicated.
Artistic simplicity is my design choice.

Also, the text is really not readable.

hmm... I'm not sure whether hand-shaking is a good background image for my site..
my site is more or less geared towards computer buffs..
so something more computer-related should be better.
Not a big deal, but I think the font is too plain..

I kept it more alive and "fun" compared to stuck up looking, heh. Figuring more teens will be searching your site than adults so you want something eyecatching for them. Let me know your thoughts.

I like the funky-looking font very much!!
Could you add space between "shared" and "bit"
so that the title is more readable.
Also, the ext (.mp3, wma, etc) could be made bigger
for better reading.
Would be even better if you could add some small cute
icons that represent differnet kinda files..

The folder icon on the left and the font look a bit plain.
Is it possible to replace the icon with something more funny and peer-to-peer related?
Also, "Shared Bit" may read better than "SHAREDBIT".

I like the catch phrase you came up with (Sharing is Caring).
Your design is more like a banner than a logo.
I would prefer a logo style that symbolizes my site graphically..
But it's not required..

I'm not a sexist, but I don't like the girl icon very much..
It attracts more attention than it needs to
even when it's not relevant to peer-to-peer sharing at all.
Single color is abit plain.. icons you choose are not that visible...
I appreciate your revisions so far, but I'll pass your design.

Ok, very well than. Sorry i couldn't do better however, i have alot on my hands and was only able to take out about 5 minutes for this project. Hopefully next time i'll have a little more time on my hands.

Let me know of the icons, which represent movies/music/pictures.

The little typo with the extensions couldn't be made much bigger because all quality is lost. If you really want them bigger, I can try to find a more suitable font.

thanks for the update!
I like the background pattern that you choose.
The new icons are also much better than before;
I think the shared folder icon and the icon containing film are
good choice.

one thing is I'm not sure whether I like the people icon,
something like "Pedestrian Xing" sign on the street.
Maybe you mean everything is shared by *people*
but as is, it does not seem to do a very good job for that.

and I'm not sure whether the horizontal bar blends in well..

they are nice icons; the picture icon looks more like ipod.
So those exts are not resizeable text, but images?
hmm.. I would still prefer them looking bigger and so more readable.
btw, have you drawn the title font on your own?
I like it much, but I was thinking "a" and "e" are alittle
hard to recognize.. not that it's a big deal..
