Hi NP.

I am currently in a dilemma.

I can buy a LLL for a fair price or buy two good type in revenue names for the same price as the LLL.

What should I do? Go buy the LLL with potential for a big resale profit or put my money in the traffic names which can give me a nice outcome every month.

What would you do?

Thanks.

birds

A bird in the hand is better than two in the bush. In you case two birds are better than one.

I don't think you should be asking us. It should be your decision.

If you like a bit of a gamble and want to take a chance on an LLL in the hope that you really can sell it on for a profit at a later date, and you don't mind having your money held in it for a while, then choose the LLL.
If you want more stability and would rather some extra cash every month to fund a better lifestyle, invest in more domains or whatever, then choose the traffic names.

It really should be a personal decision, as I doubt anyone will be in exactly the same situation as you are.

Personally I'd go for the traffic names but that's just the sort of person I am. :)

I like traffic name, I never think every LLL should worth Huge money (I know it already, but I doublt it will always increase like in past several years), in this case, I like traffic name more....anyway, people may disagree, but that is my personal thought..

I personally like traffic names better. Honestly, the LLLs are great, but they aren't always the best. If the traffic names are ones that are worth investing in, I'd say that those are much better than the LLLs.

LLL's have a tendency to draw typin traffic...just off domainers checking to see if it is a site, parked, ect ....Traffic names are very appealing...But don't trust the sellers traffic stats from a cpanel stat board,If the stats are coming directly from a parking service,That is usually ok....Anyone can produce traffic,That's simple,Real typin traffic is a different story.

Think of it like this.

LLL = growth stock with no dividend
Traffic names = value stock with nice dividend

I agree with B33R. It's an investment decision which should be based on your goals and risk tolerance. Best of luck.

Hello NP.

Thank you everyone for your replies and advice.

I think I will go for the traffic names. I have a nice quality collection so far and like to expand it to have a nice monthly income.

Thanks again everyone.

Regards,

Buy the lll.us when you make the money back.

I am the odd one I guess. I'd go for the LLL...traffic stats can be faked...if they were both developed sites and you park them...the traffic will fade away.

LLL will always increase in value as more people discover the internet every day and businesses finally get on the bandwagon. If they are premium letters...even better.

I agree Kerri,It is gamble buying traffic names,And the fake traffic and fake PR is just getting worse it seems....Another clever way for scammers to prey on domainers imo.

Okay, good question, traffic domains vs LLL investment. Both have their ups and downs. Let's look at the pros and cons of each for let's say a year's time. Let's say you buy 10 LLL's for a year vs 10 traffic domains for a year.

Pros of investing in LLLs:
  • Less chance of trademark issues.
  • More LLL investments means more chance of finding a single end-user.

Cons of investing in LLLs:
  • If investment is a .info, .us, or .biz, renewal cost can really make a difference in you profits if you invest in many of them.
  • Again, if you invest in .info, .us, or .biz, when you sell the paypal transaction fee will really reduce your profits if you invest in many of them, making it a poorer investment.
  • You will not earn back money monthly. You'll get your money back after a complete year.
  • You'll need to spend time trying to sell the domain back on the marketplace after a year to collect money.

Pros of Traffic domains:
  • Daily traffic can increase if it is a typo of a site that increases in traffic (Two perfect examples are Myspace.com and Youtube.com).
  • You will get your cut every month, allowing you to start investing in more traffic domains before a year's end.
  • Do not need to spend hours trying to sell the domain after a year on forums. Basically no work for the owner.

Cons of Traffic Domains
  • Risk of trademark issues.
  • Risk of traffic dropping.

Basically there are two more important things to consider. If you want a safe investment, go after LLL domains, otherwise if you want to take the risk but collect money on a monthly basis (which can be put back into buying more traffic domains) then go after traffic domains. Logically, traffic domains will pay off more, but have a higher risk.

Also, always remember, if you decide to buy traffic domains, buy many traffic domains for a low amount instead of a few traffic domains for a larger amount of money. Why? Because if you do come across a trademark issue for 1 domain out of 20, you'll only lose the money for that domain, rather than losing all your money if you invest into 1 domain.

Adios. :)

Well then there's a very good chance that will cost more than 12 months revenue.
