On September 1st, I decided to invest in a few LLL.in domains as a country with a large english speaking population and LLL.in domains unregistered. Using DRT I scanned all 17,574 domains and there were 7065 unregistered.

Since that time I got busy with other projects and only came back to it last night. I was very surprised to see that as of last night, there were now 3474 unregistered LLL.in domains.

I highlighted 100 domains to register then went to bed to sleep on it. Woke up this morning, decided to go ahead, and 12 of the 100 I had highlighted last night were gone already. I chose other domains and took another 100 out of the pool.

Point of the post is not to pump them or try to guess what they might be worth in future (I just registered 100 of them, obviously my opinion is clear), but if anyone else is considering investing in these thinking they have plenty of time to pick them ... you don't.

Lasher, I completely agree with your opinion and like you have put my $ behind my thoughts (purchased a solid holding of LLL.in and NNN.in).

My rationale:
1) This is a huge and extremely well-educated population. China is also an emerging power but seemingly much more reliant upon non-renewable resources.

2) They are emerging from being an under-developed country and have a massive growing middle class. This middle class has realized that their assets are hardwork and education ( renewable resources ).
Read 'The World is Flat' by T.L. Friedman for a real eye-opener.

3) English is a strong language in India and is the language of commerce and post-secondary education ( therefore I hold many LLL.in ) but numbers are a univeral language ( hence NNN.in ) and just as the .mobi rage shows us, with the rapidly growing mobility sector ( cells, PDAs, Cracks etc), numbers should be easier to type.

4) There are only 10x10x10 = 1000 NNN.in available and 26x26x26 = 17,576 LLL.in and when they are all gone that's it.

5) ccTLDs are becoming stronger and stronger and .IN will take over from the earlier but cumbersome .co.in.

6) This philosophy was solidified by meeting a fellow who recently migrated from India who confirmed all of the above ( except the math - I figured that one out by myself)

Cheers,
Brent

Though 3 Letter .us domains were first available in 2002, it wasn't until June of 2004 that all were registered under a buyout push started by "Blink" on DNF and Namepros.

So it took .us around 2 years to sell out in LLL.

Looks like LLL.in which launched in early 2005 is headed the same way and perhaps even more quickly :sold:

lll & nnn in .in

I think the nnn.in are almost gone as well.

Should be a strong market for these lll and nnn ins once the general public of domainers realizes the potential of the Indian extensions.

It is unlikely that there will be drops as I suspect those who buy these have patience and are holding for significant future appreciation rather then tasting or even expecting to realize their 1 year potential. Delayed gratification :bingo:
