Some people found my post on how to get a free @msn.com address helpful (http://www.namepros.com/free-resources/291460-free-msn-email-address.html?highlight=msn) so i thought I would post this.

Microsoft/Hotmail/Windows Live Mail have yet to release @live addresses the public however a handy little trick enabling you to register one has become available (again).

These things are fixed fast by Microsoft so grab it while you can! (Note: contrary to what they said last time, @live emails will not be taken away from you)

1. Run over to http://get.live.com/mail/overview and click "sign up"

2. Copy the URL from the address bar, for example in the UK (note the @live extensions depend on your region) the url is:

Code:
https://signup.live.com/hmnewuser.aspx?mkt=en-gb&revipc=GB&ts=3968894&sh=Nj3E&hm=1&ru=http%3a%2f%2fmail.live.com%2f%3fnewuser%3dyes&rx=http%3a%2f%2fget.live.com%2fmail%2foverview&rollrs=04&lic=1

Remove hm from hmnewuser.aspx (so it becomes "newuser.aspx" and remove &hm=1.

Hit enter or the go button and you will be taken to a new page where you can sign up with your desired @live email!

Hope you find this helpful! A good way to get your @live address secured before the rush!

Matt

Try it this way:

Go to the link http://get.live.com/mail/overview

Right click on Get It or Sign Up and click Copy Link Location

Copy/Paste that into a new window and remove &hm=1 from the url

Example:

Before:
Code:
https://signup.live.com/newuser.aspx?mkt=EN-US[b]&hm=1[/b]&revipc=US&ts=3969365&sh=NT8!&ru=http%3a%2f%2fmail.live.com%2f%3fnewuser%3dyes&rx=http%3a%2f%2fget.live.com%2fmail%2foverview

After
Code:
https://signup.live.com/newuser.aspx?mkt=EN-US&revipc=US&ts=3969365&sh=NT8!&ru=http%3a%2f%2fmail.live.com%2f%3fnewuser%3dyes&rx=http%3a%2f%2fget.live.com%2fmail%2foverview

Then hit enter and check too see if its live.XX

For me it says "Get It". Same thing? Probably is, just making sure.

When I click enter on the changed/fixed URL it just redirects me here:
http://get.live.com/

That means you did it wrong. Check my post above yours.

To others

To reg for a different country you need to edit a cookie live.com sets called COUNTRY. You can edit it by getting the Firefox addon

Canada = CA
USA = US
UK = GB
Australia = AU
India = IN

I'm literally copying and pasting your "after" part and it's still redirecting me to the same thing.

You can't copy mine you have to take yours.

What URL do you get when you copy/paste it.

We're the same? We're both located in the US.

Even when I do it myself, taking out the "HM" and the "&hm=1" it still brings me here when I press enter: http://get.live.com/

I'm not from the us.

The reason you can use exactly mine is because its different variables, just copy/paste the url your trying to use right now.

Try just that

If that doesn't work trying clearing your cookies and going back to the back and getting the new url and removign the hm and &hm=1

I'm pretty sure I did it correctly since I managed to get @live for my own country.

Perhaps its the proxy settings that's screwing it up. Blah.
