Hey,

I've noticed that the Live chat isn't working.

I dunno if it's just me but if one of the staff members could fix it it'd be great. =]

Error occured during initialization.

Please check all the configuration directives syntax,
availability of required resources such as images and sounds,
and Java Console for additioinal information.

hmm

WOW i just got done reading every post on this 8 page topic.
I must say i find some of the stuff amuzing but nonetheless i have a couple of ideas for the chat.

1. i see everyone fighting over using ajax or java. so why dont we use both. i see it should be possible to make it were you choose either the ajax or java version and make it were its not two seperate chats systems but 1 chat system with two choices of interface.

2. why use some 3rd party expensive and unchangeable chat system. why not have a developer cooperation in namepros to develop the chat room. i myself have made a quite a few chatrooms and i see many possiblities if it was done this way.
a. namepros members could make themes for the chat and submit them to namepros and namepros members could choose to use a theme they like.
b. if something goes wrong instead of a chosen few (the admins) trying to fix it by themselves, you could have most of namepros development community doing it and it would bring it back up faster.
c. Numorous amounts of features could be added by the namepros community to better the chatroom.

3. why is ajax and java your only choices? why couldn't it be developed other things like maybe canvas for example or there are all kinds of extraordinary languages, frameworks, technologies out there that would be perfect canidates for such a project.

I've got a lot of experience and background in web technology programming and would graciously help the most i could, and i'm sure there are lots of NP members who also feel the same.

Anyways those are my thoughts.

NOTE to np staff: I have many examples and finished projects i've done in the chat system industry and would be willing to hand a lot of it over.

Anyway,
PEACE.

.:klavixs:.

1.) What would be the point of two different interfaces? Java and AJAX realchat do not mix.
2.) Would cost an arm and a leg to get a similar system developed, from scratch. I'm not questioning your skills, but a project of that size - lots of things to consider ;)

NP has used the Java version for a while, why switch?

That's what they said when they switched from analog to digital. ;)

Joking. I vote js over ajax cause of the features in both.

Java vs. AJAX realchat features doesn't matter, it's the usability. The AJAX version may look "pretty", but that's all it has going for it. :imho:

Most who would like to see it upgraded to AJAX are those who "ooo" and "awe" when they see anything "Web 2.0" ;) :notme:

And the getting disconnected every 2 seconds on the Java one.

Hmm I have to disagree with the 'prettyness of the AJAX one'.

IMHO, the Java one is a hell of a lot more good looking than the ugly Ajax one. I'd say stick with what we have already. [Well, when it's fixed.]

+I've never been disconnected by the Java one.

Java looks cleaner and the features are easier to navigate.

Java all of the way. :)

I think the most I've ever stayed in the chat at once was 30 min.
