List of newly registered domains?

Hi,
I recently registered a couple of new domains. Within a day I was getting emails from companies offering to build a web site, etc., for my domains. I deliberately did not get privacy protection on these domains so I know my info is public. My question is how did these companies find out I had registered my domains right after the fact? Is there a list somewhere showing all newly registered domains? If so, where?

From the zone files it is possible to see new registrations and also removed domains. For .com and most gTLDs this is semi-public information.
Then the spammers scrape the whois for the newly-registered domains and begin spamming.

Thanks, Kate. What are "zone files"? Is this available for view by anyone, or does it require special status to view or use? Is there a web site that lists new domains as they are registered?

Hello! Not all file zones not available for any one it all depends which zone we talking about.
