List of most common dictionary words?

Anyone know where I can get a list of the most common generic dictionary words in English? Basically like a small dictionary, but just a list of words: no definitions, parts of speech, etc. Just a long list of words that can be plugged 500 at a time into a registrar's search page, to check availability in new extensions and country codes.

This seems like a pretty good and basic tool for any advanced domainer. There's go to be something like this available, right?

Do a search for the Pocket dictionary although I dont think it is as small as 500, you might need to take out some words yourself.

Thanks, actually I was looking for a dictionary of 2,000 to 5,000 words, but not in a dictionary format with definitions and all that, just a straight list of words.
