I'm working on an auction website for webmasters that has no listing fees and no final sale fees. Since it will be used by webmasters, it needs to look GREAT.

www.WebmasterBuy.com

I know I need to change that default 'no photo chosen' image.. the stock one that came with the script sucks. Please be brutally honest with me as far as what needs to change.

Please only reply with design reviews and not "but you can already sell stuff for free on namepros/digitalpoint/whatever". I'm fine with the marketing, just not with the design :)

After your review, if you want me to +rep you, just let me know. Thanks!

Ok, I'll go first. I don't like the text font for the Welcome area. It's a bit too small and appears a bit fuzzy for me.

I also think the menu buttons (Sell, Home, Register, etc.) need to be reworked to make more sense. Plus they are a bit washed out in the upper left corner so it's hard to see what they are.

They also overlap the "FREE AUCTIONS..." box on the right so you might need to tweak the size a bit.

Everything you mentioned looked fine to me. I decided to check in Internet Explorer to see how things look, and WOW, you're totally right. I completely forgot to debug the design in IE. Thanks for bringing that to my attnention.. i've got some work to do.

The general layout looks like a 3 column blog gone too long. Check out swapnames.com and familiarize yourself with some of their dynamic. Your visuals, specially taking the nav. bar in consideration are more attractive than many other sites of similar concept that i've seen. The web 2.0 aspect is certainly what i'd be looking for, but at the same time, i'm expecting more information at first glance without having to click through too many tabs and items. You already stated that you're not reinventing the wheel, just making it look better... ;)
So, here are a few items to consider:
- unique logo
- favicon
- use of lightbox
- consistent web 2.0 layout
- ease of use and navigation
- utmost focus on information without overloading the screen (collapsable tabs come to mind)

You seem to be working on it as we speak, when i refresh the page, it changes consistently.

Very nice start, keep going, i think you're on the right way.

I enjoy it, my biggest problem is the logo. The logo needs to go.
