Hello,

I was hoping to get some advice.

I have two domains I'd like to transfer to another registrar, but I made a mistake with the expiry date, and they are actually due to expire tomorrow, the 9th of June.

If I initialize a transfer today of those two domains, would they go through ok?

I don't think so. Not enough time, you are stuck at your current registrar for another year.

Yes they will go thru. ICANN says a registrar cannot block a transfer due to being expired.

It should go through but how it goes depends on who the losing registrar is! If you try a Godaddy to Dynadot or to Domainshostingdesign transfer today, you will likely complete the process today. You can always transfer to your preferred registrar after renewal at the current resgistar.

Let us know how it goes!

What is the CURRENT registrar? You can complete a transfer within an hour (or even less) depending on if the CURRENT (Losing) registrar gives you the option to "release" them immediately...

Steven-- NOTE THIS:
IF your current registrar is GO DADDY and you have not held these domains for 60 days (or have made certain types of changes in your account with this domain during 60 days) your transfer to another registrar will be blocked by Go daddy.

Excuse my ignorance, but I would like to get this clear for myself, does that mean that if the domain is several days expired it would still be transferable to another registrar?

By the way guys, the current registrar is Name.com

You cannot intiate transfers on an ALREADY EXPIRED NAME!

I've initiated transfers dayS after expire. When it's in redemption is when you can't initiate transfer.

Just to let you know, I have inititated the transfer from Name.com to Namecheap. It was done maually through Namecheap's live support and a real person, which was really good service from them. Hopefully it will go through. I'll post again when I know for sure.

Thanks everyone :)

Yes you can actually, I've done it before.

Well, that's handy to know! :)..... but i did try to transafer a name on the day it was going to expire at one registrar(don't remember which now) and they had already changed the email address to theirs! The transfer emails did not come to me and I had to renew with them before transfer!

Steven,

The transfer takes about 10 days at name.com. You can speed this up by requesting they expedite the transfer. You must send the request from your admin email address. They will release the domain earlier to NameCheap.

Transfering an expired domain name

Hi folks,

I've got a domain name registered with dotster, and it expired today :/
Now I'd like to transfer it to my godaddy account, so I'd like to know if it's possible to transfer an expired domain and how can I do it?
If somebody did experience this same situation, please let me know how it went?

thanks in advance..

An expired domain name cannot be transferred. First renew it then start the transfer process.

Not enough time for initiating the transfer before they expire. Wait for them to expire so as to renew and then transfer them.

If you registered your domain with dotster for cheap, be prepared to pay a fee before you can transfer out.
