There may be another thread out there on this..

But what's the deal with LeapFish.com? The "quickie appraisals" seems to be overly inflated in my opinion.

I realize that domains are like baseball cards, only worth what someone is willing to pay for them... but what are the groups thoughts on this type of appraisal?

It provides a nice break from reality... I feel so special with my 10 million + "Leapfish appraised" portfolio LOL.

I use it as a lazy way to check backlinks. That's about all it's good for IMO.

I use Leapfish sometimes as a research tool on aged domains I am considering buying. It is just one tool I use, however, and it has real limits to what it can definitively reveal.

I don't pay attention to the Name Value it gives me, but I have found that the Archive score it provides can be a moderately good predictor of traffic and the names past strength.

It's totally wrong as to name value, but has some limited use as a research tool in my opinion.
