Latest word on P2P sharing programs?

I've never have installed a P2P sharing program in any of my computers. I remember that was a time where some program called Kaza was famous. Then I heard there were newer networks, but never got specifics.
Now, I need to install one of those programs to dig in certain stuff I just can't find anywhere else.
What do you recommend me to install?

Torrents are the way to go... download uTorrent and then find some torrent sites, a lot quicker than any direct p2p program.

Thanks for the advise.
Do you know what "eMule" is? Someone in the office pointed me that out.

Well you've got a fair few options:
There are various networks out there that you can find clients for:
Gnutella 1 & 2:
-Limewire
-Shareazza
FastTrack:
-Kazaa (Do NOT use the FastTrack network)
eDonkey:
-eMule

And the list goes on...

Then there is BitTorrent, quite different to those networks. Instead of searching through other peoples computers directly through the client, which in turn connects to other clients and superseeders to search other peoples computers for files (bla bla bla)... You use the your internet browser to search for what you want. (I won't recommend any sites, but torrentsites.org will give you a good idea).

It (BitTorrent) also has a heap of clients, I would recommend uTorrent for a new user, others are:
BitComet
Azureus
ABC
BitTorrent (Has it's own client, not very good though)
BitTornado

And more...

If you are looking for individual files or small files, or old files (extremely old software etc), you would want to use the fasttrack, edonkey or gnutella network.

If you're looking for large files, or many files, BitTorrent is definitely the way to go.

If you couldnt be bothered reading what I wrote (lol), download uTorrent, and visit piratebay.org for downloads.

Hope that helps :)

Rhett.

lol

Anyways, back on topic: I use winMX sometimes, and torrents. I use both of them very rarely, as I can never find what i'm looking for.

Bit torrent has other uses than stealing music or videos. My biz partner and I regularly send large private files to one another over azureus. We enable the encryption, encrypt the files to be sent, and set each other as the only allowed users and off we go. It's not bullet proof but it beats uploading sensitive files to a server.

When did fischermx ever specify that he was downloading illegal material?

'p2p' has legal uses too, a commonly missed use.
