I've just started purchasing sites again after the long Christmas break and it appears that the Developed Web Sites for sale forum has gone a bit crazy. There are tons and tons of posts trying to sell brand new and zero traffic/income proxy and MySpace style sites. Most of the threads no longer even get replies. Perhaps it's time to introduce a small charge or some kind of quality control to stop the spam?

Apart from that I'm glad to see NP still rocks :loveyou:

I doubt a charge would ever happen (unless that -db- has something to do with it )

I'm not even sure it'd make much difference, what's a few bucks when you can potentially find someone to pay double or triple the domain's reg fee for a brand new site running a free script?

It's the whole supply-and-demand thing IMHO. People do buy brand new sites. When they stop, then the supplies will dry up and the sellers will move on...

:imho: anyway.

B33R you raise a very good point. After posting on here I went (traitor!) to check out the for sale forum at SitePoint which now charges $20 per listing! The quality of sites there was no better. Perhaps it's a time of year thing! I'm shocked that people purchase brand new sites with perhaps a *weeks* (!) proof of income and then get confused when they've been tricked.

Hmm, it's a shame there is no obvious solution. Where can serious sellers (i.e. 2-3 year old sites, 12+ months of stable earnings, etc) sell their sites - and more importantly where can I buy them? lol :D

Perhaps we could volunteer to moderate the forum and ensure that all listings meet a certain criteria (i.e. everyone posting has at least 3 months of income stats, traffic, etc.) Just a last minute idea.

Introducing a charge would certenly screw namepros up. Look what happened to sitepoint...they lost about 25% of their regular members, including myself because they got greedy.

TBH I think there should be a "turnkey sites for sale" which is for new/no traffic sites. That way the "good" sites are in their own forum, and so are the new ones.

Introducing a charge would lose np many members. As rmwebs said, I also no longer visit sitepoint. Its not a bad thing to charge but not $20 per thread ! Especially if you are selling a domain for 40-50 bucks.

Anyway, a subforum (New & Turnkey Websites) should be added under Developed Websites For Sale. This way, it gets more organized and easy to find what you need.
