ccTLD .LA extension

Does anyone have comments on this extension?
They advertise it as an extension for Los Angeles, although is the country code of Laos.

I've sold 2 of them in the past, let 2 majors drop and hold a few now but the return has never been quite what you may expect or think as they push the branding as Los Angeles.

I like it and there are plenty out there that do but unless you develop it or find the perfect end-user (which is the goal of all domainers) it will likely just be an expensive reg/renewal for you. Just my opinion...

Laos is not a stable country and not a country I would trust to brand it to foreign users on the long haul. They could cease branding it as Los Angeles anytime they want and restrict it to local users. It's not exactly a stable country with a reliable government, which i do consider as quite important to trust the domaining side of the country.

Add to that that in the States most people are used to .com, .us is on the rise as well, so I doubt a lot of people are waiting for city extentions. Maybe it will work with keywords.

PS does lakers.la or galaxy.la exist? Those are the main sporting outfits of the city, no? (although I doubt they'd consider using .la over .com or .us)
