I don't want to get into a religious debate, but I have seen that line of reasoning a lot. I am not sure how anyone who supports that reasoning could also support the death penalty. That is man playing God.

It seems a little contradictory to me.

God is the Maker, so if He kills then it suits Him as he is doing His job to keep this earth clean and tidy. Who gave Hitler or anyone else the right to take over God’s job? People may have no faith but they should talk sense at least. :]

This thread seems to be drifting off into nebulous territory. God is a matter of faith, and the concept has a HUGE range of interpretation - his/her name has been invoked by pacifists and warmongers alike, and all sorts of people in-between.

The KKK are a matter of narrow, bald-faced, historical fact, and it's nonsensical to compare the two.

I think it's the love of money that's predominant in this case. Wouldn't be so bad if he didn't put it above all else.

If you can change just 1 bigot's attitude around, you'll have made it a success. I'm sure you could draft someone in the 'Developers For Hire' wing to do a decent job. They might even do it for a discount rate, or if you're super-lucky, fr*e...^^

You say God's the maker, but who or what is God's maker? Who gave him his "job" as you put it to kill the millions he has killed in the name of keeping "the earth clean and tidy". Why does it make sense to give God the benefit of the doubt, and not the many other people who have killed wrongfully ? To me that makes no sense at all. To kill is to kill, even if you are some devilish being who calls yourself "GOD", that still doesn't make it right.

Fine. Your point is that God is a manmade thing. I understand your viewpoint and appreciate your honesty. Now, if God is a non-existent being then why do you drag him in the discussion and blame him for natural disasters etc? You are tarring Hitler and KKK and a non-existent being with the same brush! The impression that you give is this: you unintentionally (to give you the benefit of doubt) glorify or minimise the severity of the crimes committed by Hitler and KKK against humanity by stating that the non-existent being is no different.

Anyway, let’s agree to disagree. This is my last post on this topic.
