KidsCostumes.com would have been better with some ppc advertisers around, I'm thinking low to mid $xx..

Good luck ;)

You will have to excuse my inexperience, but I am assuming low to mid $xx is 50$-75$, is that correct?

And thanks for the PPC advice.

Nice domain. I'll be following closely and might place a bid myself.

Thanks, 1st domain I sell on ebay in 8 years, I have really fallen behind in this business, but catching up slowly.

Nice domain. If it gets traffic, contact online costume companies - they may want to bid on it as a redirect to their site. I could see this going well into 3 figures, higher if the right parties are interested. Parking for PPC is a waste on this name, it has great keyword value to a costume business.

Costumes are a multi-billion dollar business and a very competitive one.

Good luck with it!

Lurkers in the ebay bushes.

I sent a bunch of emails out to the various costume sites that bid on those keywords hopefully they are now watching the domain, I also contacted any twitters selling costumes with Halloween coming up. my fingers are crossed. thanks for the advice!

I woke up this morning to find the bidding at 300$

The nice thing is that the bidders are end users selling Costumes on Ebay, I just hope there are enough of them fighting for it. We shall see.

I just got an offer for 500$ outside of ebay, very strange, why wouldn't they just bid on ebay.

I am obviously committed to ebay at this point, I have a link on the kidscostume.com that goes straight to the auction. My only guess is that someone thinks its going to go for more then $500 and decided to try and bypass ebay in hopes that I would cancel the auction. With all the work I did contacting endusers I wouldn't want to throw that away. Half the bidders on the auction are users who are selling kids costumes, i.e. the kind of bidders I want. The auction now has 11 watchers some of who hopefully will try to snipe in the final seconds.

Whenever you list something for auction and you have people who try and persuade you to sell it to them at a fixed price, that's usually a symptom that you're going to do pretty well in the auction. The reason they want to buy it off ebay is that they fear it's going to sell for more than they can afford to pay on ebay.

With domain names, it's very easy to open up direct lines of communication since the whois is there, but for other stuff- when you see someone list a $5000 item for a .99 cent start price and it's clear that they haven't the slightest clue what they own- the "o you have a Buy It Now price in mind" or "I'll give you $200 for it, but we have to close the auction right away since im buying it for my wifes birthday in 4 days and I need it shipped ASAP" type offers start raining in.

That make perfect sense, good explanation.

The reason I chose ebay in the 1st place, not afternic or sedo, obviously this time a year there are a lot of costume sellers doing business on ebay, and I purposely put keywords in the domain listing like spiderman costume etc, so as to pick up sellers checking out their competition. There are now 12 lurkers watching the auction, how many are other domainers interested in what price I am going to get, and how many our end users I do not know. In less then 24 hours I will know!

The top bidder is a domainer. Lol may even be from this board, I work my but off and send an email to the whois of every site bidding on "kids Costume" on google and yahoo, and so far at least, a domainer has knocked out the few endusers who were bidding. Its funny how the general public understands the importance of real estate and "location location location", but most people don't seem to understand ".com Keywords and indexed" is equivalent to real estate downtown. Someone should do a survey where you show a picture of a house and its location and they every joe would guess the price, then do the same thing with domains like "candy.com" or "insure.com" or puppy.tv. I would love to see those results just for fun. My guess is .001% of the public would be able to guess the value of domains vs 30% for real estate.

good name. good price. good luck.

remember next time when selling on ebay, always put "Domain Name" in the description and not only "Domain". Some people search for terms with "Domain Name + something", and your name wont appear then.

btw, i found these sales with "costume" (not costumes)

AmericanCostume.com sold for $1004 back in 2007
buy-costume.com $750 - 2008

more sales with "Costumes" though

best was CostumeStores.com for $20000

Great Data, Where did you get it?

AmericanCostume.com I like, I am not crazy about hyphens unless you already own buycostome.com. And I am surprised the last is a plural. I would have thought CostumeStore.com would have been better. Interesting.
