As domainers, we like to keep tabs on things but when you want to keep tabs on multiple topics it quickly becomes burdensome a task. And that is precisely why I'm such a big fan of curated news(letters). Aside from the actual news, the industry specific newsletters also provide a good glimpse at the jargon and vocabulary being used in this and that industry and thus provide a lot of hand reg opportunities.
In addition to tech and industry specific news, I also subscribe to a few general newsletters (such as NextDraft, more below) that take a look at the daily mediascape of U.S. to get an overall picture of what's happening in U.S both sociologically and politically (because that's where my buyers come from; I'm myself from .FI).
Anyways, here's a couple that I follow (in alphabetical order):
- Benedict Evans newsletter -- A simple and compact weekly newsletter about the notable tech news and opinions by Benedict Evans.
- Biometrics Update -- As the title says
- Crunchbase newsletter -- From TechCrunch. What's being funded and by whom. I like to know who has the money. Also, a lot of startup names in use.
- Daring Fireball -- Whether you like Apple ace John Gruber's style and Apple fanboyism, or not, it's hard not to agree with Gruber's thoughtful commentary on mobile tech and software development. Not an actual newsletter but a super simplistic, linked list style website.
- FINSMES newsletter -- "Real time VC & private equity deals and news"
- FTTE -- As in Future Trends in Technology and Education. A monthly newsletter from Bryan Alexander, an edu tech researcher and speaker, dealing with advancements in education and (educational) tech.
- Futurism newsletter-- Just recently subscribed, mainly because of the cool domain. Popularized science and tech.
- Hacker Newsletter -- Although I'm at best a copy/paste programmer, I like to know what's happening in software development.
- MediaRedef -- A bit all over the board newsletter (or news service), very hectic. Wants to be your daily curated news source. Not sure if succeeds.
- MIT Technology Review newsletters -- Tech newsletters by topic.
- NextDraft -- The best general newsletter I've ever read. I sincerely love it. At the intersection of society, culture, and tech. Thoughtfully and passionately curated and commented by Dave Pell, a Silicon Valley VC.
- Product Hunt daily -- Although I use very few (mobile) apps, I sure like to know about the launched products.
- Stacey Knows Things -- More of a high-level look at the IoT industry by Stacey Higginsbottom, an authority on Internet of Things
- STAT News newsletter -- "Reporting from the frontiers of health and medicine"
- Top Technology News -- A daily newsletter from ScienceDaily. More hard science and early stage tech than daily tech. Quick to skim through.
--
Hope you find some of them useful/interesting.
And if you know any good newsletters, do share
