KatherineMcPhee.com sold for $1075 on eBay

I think someone got a pretty good deal, especially when ConstantineMaroulis.com sells to none other than Constantine Maroulis himself for $5k fairly recently. For those not in the know, Katherine McPhee was the runner up in this year's American Idol. She sang pretty well and was a total fox to boot. Link to her American Idol page

Discuss!

Edit: Googled and found a link to the closed auction...whew!

I have KatMcphee_com and several mispellings of her full name such as katherinemacphee_com and more like that but was too slow on katharine mcphee. I regged mine the first day they went to hollywood and all the other contestants were taken well before that. I checked every name :hehe:

Can they take the name back? I mean its pretty obvious there arnt many Katherine McPhees around and the name was obviously taken with the intention to profit from someone elses fame.

I thought that was cheap and no wonder:

That's NOT How You Spell Her NAME!!!!!!

Somebody got screwed. She spells it Katharine with an A instead of an E.

WOW, maybe I should put some of my mispellings on ebay :hehe:

Ooh, nice catch there. I don't think anyone's getting screwed though if Katharine does make a career for herself. No doubt that will be one valuable typo domain there.

ooh...i would have fallen for that.
I tried to get some big brother names and i thought i had it it big when i regged shabaz.co.uk. But i realised he had an "h" in his name "shahbaz". Good old moniker got me a refund :hehe:

I'm probably going to hell for this, but most of the crowd that likes Katharine McPhee can't spell anyways! Nah, j/k...there's enough Katherines in the world that I can see why that mistake is common.

I don't care about whether it's a's or e's because the only letter with her that is important is a paired set of letters that falls between "a" and "e" and isn't "b" or "c" ;)

</bad></very very bad>

Before I saw your catch above, I too thought that was a steal, I must admit. I hope the winning bidder knew, and I have to admite as well that I'm disappointed the seller didn't mention the fact it was a mispelling if, in fact, it is.

I've never watched American Idol and don't plan on it... (Mindless TV IMO). Based on that fact, I had absolutely no idea who this lady even was. I wouldn't have even thought to reg the domain name lol.

That's a nice sale price for that name. If she has a big career though, there will be some sellers regret.

I don't blame you. I didn't know who she is either 'til I checked out the link
posted above. :D

I had carrieunderwood.ws (last year's American Idol winner), got lots of traffic on it when I had it up, but recently deleted it from my GoDaddy account as I lost interest..

I agree that it will be a valuable name if she does have a decent career, but I think the way the auction was set up was to intentially mislead the buyer. That's why I say someone got screwed. I have 6 or 7 misspellings of her name and even I didn't catch it at first. I'm sure the new owner probably didn't either. The seller should have stated that it was a misspelling.

I put 4 of mine up on ebay when it was down to 10 contestants and I clearly stated in the auction title and description that they were misspellings. Maybe the new owner knew though..who knows.
