.us Just sold my second .us

Hi All,

Hopefully this will be motivational to all you other .us lovers. I just sold my second .us (ganga.us) for $500 bucks at Sedo. I purchased this for reg. fee about 6 months ago.

This is my second .us sale this year-first was whitezinfandel.us for $950 also purchased for reg. fee. I only held the second domain for 2 weeks before turning it over.

I have had my best % gains with .us's and I have a lot of great ones left

Ganga is a river...the goddess Ganga...only 6 million results in google...hmmm must not be worth $500...DOH!

how does anyone really know what anything is worth? Its relative. to a domainer here who thinks its a mediocre or average name, it might be worth little, but to someone who the name could serve very well, the name could be very important and the person maybe willing to buy it for $500. its all about the demand.

i don't know if i would categorize it specifically as a lucky sale. He regged the right name, and the right buyer came at the right time with the right money. doesn't that happen to many people @ namepros?

ganga is an approved spelling for ganja, as well--similar to the alternate spellings of the word advisor/adviser--both are correct in each of the cases.

I have no idea who bought it, but I got it for reg fee a while ago and liked it because of the Google results, the fact that it is a river, goddess, pot etc. It has a lot of meanings and the person really wanted it so I probably could have held out for more, but I thought $500 was a fair price. (I think I had it listed at Sedo for 600).

Anyway, I find with domaining it just pays to be creative and 'think outside the box'. I've registered (and even sold) some 'out there' names. I LOVE it when people tell me a name "isnt worth squat" its precisely that thinking that allowed me to get those names in the first place without any competition!

2 years ago people thought $1000 was ridiculous for a 3 letter .com - now look at it.

Clearly it is worth $500 to someone. Worth is determined by what someone is willing to pay for it, not what sellers think they should.
