I just sold JessicaSimpsonHairExtensions.com for $1,500.00 on Sedo.

Keeping that in mind, what are your appraisals for these names?:

JessicaHairExtension.com

JessicaHairExtensions.com

JessicasHairExtensions.com

I would probably want to sell them as a package.

Thanks!

Jacal1 - Thanks!
You make a good point.

Previous posts removed per previous suggestion. Offer to pay Btrader $1,500 for proving fake sale still stands.

So BTrader: No further comments are needed until it's to prove the SEDO sale was fake and collect your $1,500. I'll give you until Friday. Get to work!

I never once said the sale was a fake. I have no information to that effect, and never asserted such. I just found your whole bit about it not being TM to be bogus, and based on my email today - I think it is obvious you;

1. Took a liberty that was not conferred to you.
2. Had an overly aggressive sales rep - who told you whatever it took to get the $20k sale...

I don't really care, my point is YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO USE HER NAME!

The other domains were obviously purchased to allude to her TM. I am no attorney (or a detective, lol) but your intent is to once again trade off a TM that is not yours.

I don't care about your situation, the reason for my continued participation in this thread, is for those newbies who may be misled by your bravado.

I know you think you are in the clear about the $1500, but the reality is the injured party (the person who bought the domain from you) can come after you for the money - its such a small amount they probably won't - but they would be well within their right to do so.

Btrader -

I concur that the rep may have told me anything. All anyone has on that is my word. But that's what happened.

As for the "injured" party. Well, I think she knows what she's doing. They also own JessicaSimpsonHairDo.com and again, are the largest seller of her product.

Anyway - I'll try to find an end user for those names ans keep you updated.

One things for sure, it's a nice sale and a good reminder and tip for everyone, that meaningful generic (well, almost....) dotcoms can still have value even when long. I was wondering if these types of names got sold anymore...

I agree with btrader that it's good to be conscious of TM issues, but also it seems that it pays off to make bold moves...

Congrats on the sale. Maybe wigs.com competitors might be interested in the remaining names? Or since you've developed a working relationship, why not offer them to wigs.com for a very reasonable price? You'd get rid of them, make a nice little profit, and move on?

Cheers,
Josh

of your three new ones, the best is 'JessicaHairExtensions', the others aren't that natural.

another good variant might be dropping the "Hair" part from the original one you sold. might be hard to get another sale like the one you did though, better to move on to other names than keep focusing on this Jessica Simpson niche - just my two cents

Wow, someone paid that much for it? Where are those type of buyers, I need them!

Honestly, can't see any value in any of those names

The reason I started domaining was seeing sales like this one.

Props on the sale.

interesting thread. I read it over my bowl of cereal. As much as the TM issues are at stake here, it makes no sense for anyone to go through the court headaches and expenses if they can buy the domain for a fraction of these costs. $1500 is merely half of what it would cost to initiate such an action.
Another truth is that most of the time, unless you develop a domain and start making a significant income off it, you will rarely hear from whoever it is that the TM belongs to.
I own and undeveloped name lipcandy.com - when Jessica Simpson's people came up with a product by the same name I thought I was ready to buy a new house with the money that I thought they would pay me for that domain. Not only were they not a bit moved by the idea, they weren't even open to accept my offer to develop this into a retail website. A perfect name for the product - no interest at all. Go figure.... :)

I think that you were very lucky selling this name. Either that, or you are a great marketer!
Your new domain variations listed here for evaluations do not seem to have any significant value to me. BUT.... neither would the one you got $1500 for! You never know who you will find out there that may see gold in another person's garbage. You have to remember that this is a forum for domain traders and we do not think anything like the people in the real world! :)
good luck!

thanks for the compliments - it turned ugly here the other day...

Sash - no I didn't showcase them - I just checked my sedo account one day (I'm not too much into monetizing traffic) and I saw that I had a bid, it was getting about 60-80 visitors a month, but I didn't have it optimized at all so it only got a few clicks a month.

I almost considered countering at 5k - I figured it had to be a big player or Jessica herself if they were coming out with such a strong offer, but then I figured it was best to take the money and run.

Haha good call! Nice sale. A domain is only worth what people will pay for it...just like anything else.
