Hi, this is my first post, I'm just look to get my feet wet and would like to know how sensible of an idea it is too:

Reg on godaddy a few domain now and then, mainly catching current and expected new technology, that'll info will be required for

Then simply sell for twice the reg fee

I'm curently not looking at activly developing websites on to these, just want to make a small profit. However, as your the experts, I might be utterly wrong about the whole thing.

Possible sure but worth your while maybe not, the time you will put into it may not be worth the gain of $10

It's a topic I've not been able to find much on, there's articles which allude heavily to this practise, but i can't find many solid pieces of info and experiance of it. Part of my reason is that i get a weekly gov education benefit that i don't really use, or spend it awayl; so every good name i think of that'll be relavent soon or very new industry expanding i'd reg and simply get double back. Still sound stupid? (No sarcasm intended, in the last sentance.)

Not stupid however there's a lot of people here who live off selling domain names and developing, so if you like me and just doing it for experience at the moment or just doing it for a hobby then fair enough but otherwise you would get more money off getting a retail job.

I totally understand that im just looking for a way to maximise some of my side income, raise some extra funds ect. Maybe add a nice adverty frontpage hosted on a free site. One final question, would people buy just domain name ownership (for the low price i want), if i put it on a domain listing site.

If your domain is good enough, you find the right person or its cheap then people will buy it yes, you only have to look on here there's tons of domains selling everyday.

Cool, thanks for all the help. I'll be looking to quite activly push the sell, by contacting relavent buisiness and industrys, other related websites, rather than just only list it to the domainers fiscal flipping interests.

If you want to flip regfee domains for twice regfee I agree it's probably not worth the hassle. In particular if you're going to flip to fellow domainers. The way to achieve better money for your domains is to reach out to end users.

if your going into a name just hoping to get 2X regfee then just dont even price them. Let the buyer (hopefully endusers is what were talking about) set the price. Goodluck And remember these names are hot potatos, cuz you dont want to pay a second year reg fee on these types of names so you got to work em right away.

If you are targeting end users then don't set a price for it. Let them make you an offer. Because if you are buying and then researching and mailing to end users, then 10$ is definitely not worth all this. If you plan to flip it here on forums and all, which don't require too much time or marketing, then you should go ahead with this.
