The whole idea of PPC is odd to me. It should be up to the advertisers to create ads that users want to click on... it shouldn't be the publisher's responsibility. Of course, ad placement is very important, which is why the following model makes the most sense for advertisers and publishers: Advertisers choose from a list of sites to advertise on, with each site setting a price per week/day/etc.
Individual impressions and clicks wouldn't matter, practically taking out all fraud. Advertisers could rest easy. Because each publisher would want to be able to charge the highest price, they would want to bring in more traffic to their site and make their site as attractive as possible..
There is a problem with "new" sites joining the network (no one would want to risk money on new sites with very little traffic), but these would simply have to charge a much smaller amount per day. For example, an established site with traffic might charge $25 per day, but a new site might only charge $0.80 per day.
What do you think about this?
