Just a quick question about a name I bought on a whim

As I was browsing around Reddit, the topic of star registration came up. I happened to be browsing the appraisals section of namepros, and I only have a couple domains of which I use for actual sites I have.

I'm not much into domaining or how it all works, but I thought I had read at one point in time that having a domain name that is a phrase of an exact Google search, your options and worth went up.

For example, if 'how to tie shoes' gets 74,000 monthly global searches. Is the domain howtotieshoes.com of any value? Surely it could be developed into something and with a little work be top result for that search, or am I wrong here?

Any thoughts or guidance on this matter is greatly appreciated. Great community you have here.

Your example, "how to tie shoes" only gets 2400 exact searches on Google. The 74,000 is a broad search figure, and in most cases completely meaningless. 2400 exact searches can be a good number in some cases, where the keywords suggest a product or a problem that people might pay to have help with. The "how to tie shoes" market is not exactly a hungry market of buyers though.
Hypothetically, though, if the phrase actually did get 74,000 exact searches, it would be something you could monetize. It can be surprising how much can be made even in low advertiser competition keywords like this, at least when the search volume is there.
