Don't worry about getting it appraised. And don't worry about TM violations either, if and only 'IF' you can build a itunes / tablet friendly website with product friendly articles, reviews and updates..
TM violation hinges a lot on intent and use rather than just possession of company marks. If Apple wants the name back, then hand it over, but don't let the name delete.
I say this from experience and with quite a few bucks in revenue made in the process. So, go ahead. build a site. You have nothing to lose. You will only be helping Apple look good. Trust me. They won't mind a bit if your site is professional and well made with appropriate disclaimers.
