Hello Folks,

I just registered two names with Moniker.com. One of the names has a very, very high monthly search volume and the other name has no search volume at all.

I went to change the NS for both names and was able to redirect the one domain wo/ any search volume wo/ any issues. When I went to change the NS for the high search volume domain it didn't work.

Even after change the NS a few times my domain still gets redirected to their "ads" page.

I have waited for almost an hour and it's still not working.

I find it hard to believe this is a coincidence.

I promised myself never ever to register a name with them again!

Give the name more time.

It can take 1-2 days for the NS to propagate.

The amount of search volume has nothing to do with a name resolving.

i have over 100 domains (not at moniker.com) and it never took me longer than few minutes to change the NS.

and i know the search volume has nothing to do with NS but it has something to do with $$$

If whois shows the updated nameservers then clear your cache.

Does whois show the updated nameservers? If so, it is not on Moniker's end.

Most, if not all, of the major gTLD registries update their zones in near real-time, so that's likely not the issue.

DNS caching is likely the problem. A more frequently accessed domain is more likely to have its DNS get cached by ISPs.

Very likely you and/or someone else on your ISP visited that domain before you updating DNS.

What was the DNS set to before you changed it? Was it a popular parking service, such as Sedo, Parked, etc?

Parking services often wildcard their zones so any domain that points there will resolve - makes adding domains a cinch, but comes with a tradeoff in that any domain that's pointed to parking will likely be cached, and often for at least a day or more, since many set their TTLs to 1 day...

Verify you really changed the DNS for the domain - Moniker can help you with checking that (and/or check VeriSign registry, if it's a .com / .net domain). And if the DNS was definitely changed, but still not resolving, likely waiting out the TTL (doubled) will do it ...

Basically, be prepared to wait upwards of 2 days. If still not working after 2 days, then contact Moniker and/or your ISP for assistance and/or post more details here.

Ron
