I can edit quickly since it is a gray area . . . I am hoping @lolwarrior and @Silentptnr can comment for me!

I just bought is4e.com It was technically hand reg in March. I paid less than normal GoDaddy hand reg, so it feels like hand reg! Anyways three reasons for purchase. One, cheap and less than hand reg. Two, CCCC. Is it correct to say 4L? I would have done this LLNL. IS4E.org looks like a real website, may be some upside to sell them the dotcom. Maybe not. But those are 3 reasons.

Good purchase/reg/gamble? Or another waste of less than $10?

Its not a 4 letter. Its a 4 character.. I wouldnt think it has any value at all. What do you think the value is?

The .org is for International Society for Endomicroscopy Doubt they would be interested in the .com as they are an organization

I actually did not have a dollar amount in mind. I guess I thought with the other org registered, that there could be some upside. Maybe XXX.

I would say that acquiring the .com was worth the risk (in relation to your purchase price). Right now the .org owners are pretty much your only potential end-user, so I'd suggest you try to sell it to them asap (in case they decide to rebrand, learn about quality domain names, etc.). At the time of them registering their .org, the .com was taken and it's landing page had no sign of it being for sale ... and even though they seem to use .org's and are a not-for-profit entity, this remains a positive. Please note though that there's a very small chance that the previous owner of the .com already solicited them. Here are some brief facts:

(1) The .com (first registered 14 years ago), expired 2017.01.07.
(2) The .net is taken as well (2016.01.23), but the owners registered i4ea.com as a possible rebrand (2017.01.15).
(3) The .org expires 2026.08.15, which indicates a possible long-term commitment.

I'd suggest a $500 asking price in your outbound email/call, along with a prepared print/pitch on why/how the .com will benefit them. If/when they counter, settle on whatever makes you happy. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Good luck :xf.smile:.

I can not think of any end user for this domain, so no value imo

Not really, a small price to pay for an important lesson learned. Now if you had paid $100........ Seriously, I suspect that at one time or another we have all jumped too quick at something that just caught our fancy. Like yesterday for me....

@Want2learn Sometimes we can go out of the box and do some nice things. Especially on a holiday like Easter. Maybe you could donate this domain to the .org organisation. Therefor maybe not a $10 waste but rather a contribution for a good cause!
Happy Easter and peace to all! :xf.smile:
