Hey everyone,
I know most people know this but for those of you who don't or want a run through again :D. Here's a few main things you should consider when looking for a template or designing making your site as SE friendly as possible
1) Is your code clean? Make sure you have no unnecessary code on your pages.
2) Is the theme/template consistent throughout your whole site? Search engine's will only get confused if you use a different style on each page.
3) Avoid duplicate content! Believe it or not, webmasters are actually getting the duplicate content penalty without realizing it- Especially bloggers. make sure you have the noindex tag on archives and categories to avoid Google indexing the same page twice. It's a simple move, but so many people forget to do this!
4)Website structure. You want your page to be to be close to the main URL as possible. Like something.com/page.html. Not something.com/category/page/. Google doesn't like deep crawling to find relevant pages.
5) Page Loading times. Make your page load as fast as possible. You don't want to keep your visitors waiting for your page to load. keep the flash and javascript to a minimum, these only make your site load slower.
I know a missed a few things, so if anyone has anything else that would make a great SEO template post it, and ill add it above.
