Is tucowsauctions.com legit?

I read in these two threads about tucowsauctions.com:
http://www.namepros.com/domain-name...ll-com-whats-up.html?highlight=tucows+auction
http://www.namepros.com/domain-name...ws-auctions.html?highlight=tucowsauctions.com

But, when type the url, it redirects me to an auction site that is a subdomain of another site:
https://ddirect.domainauctionservice.com/

When I look at their domains, they are either registered for a longer time that they are claimed to be, or they are on snapnames listed for a dollar under.

Anybody know?, thanks

Yes it is legit. This is for the expired domain names registered at tucows.

I am dogging a name registered at Tucows which is about to expire. Do all dropped Tucows names go to this auction?

This is not looking good. How many damn places you have to backorder from. If it drops I WANT TO GO AFTER IT. Is a very niche name. I offered a good price about a year ago and she hung up on me. Today is the exp date and whois doesn't show renewal yet.

The site is very rundown. Not maintained for over 2 years. Has dropped from PR5 to PR3 but there are some very nice backlinks. Could be very useful to me.

If you create an account at the site above you can set E-mail alerts to be notified when names with a certain pattern are about to be available for bidding.

I wanted to bid on a domain on there, but it wouldn't allow sign ups on any of my credit cards.

I lost a name on there because of it, then it went to snap and I had to pay about $300.

If they're system worked, I could have got it for $60.

grrrr

This is why i asked the question about the site being legit in the first place, the names listed there are also listed in snapnames, and the snapnames bidding system seems to work much better and at least gives some confidence (even if it is just cause it looks cleaner). It this service is indeed owned by tucows, they should take care of it.

I talked with them on the phone regarding the problem on signups yesterday for a good while. Apparently its a problem that has happened before. That being said they still haven't fixed the problem. As far as SnapNames is concerned that is just a backorder. Which means they will attempt to get it when it drops. Tucows gives it to you before it drops which makes a huge difference.

BTW Others should call either Tucows or their reseller because they said I was the only one that has called in with the problem and before they had many people do so. That may be why they haven't jumped on it just yet.
