Is this typo typed?

This is a question I find myself asking when considering registration of a typo domain name. How does one go about finding out if people actually make a certain typo?

I would use those only one letter mistake typos becase more than one letter mistake is hardly to make when one visit a address!

You DO have to focus on domains that people tend to type-in instead of search for. :)

Is there an automation that guess how a typo is typed in relation from the original word?

Do you know any sites / softwares that do this?
..maybe free to try? :)

Thank you!

I highly doubt there is a program for it.

There's programs to do it, but they'll never be for sale. Why would anyone sell them?

Because you could sell it for a fortune to sad gits like us...be good for quick money :notme:

Sell a program like that once, and every domainer on the planet will have a copy in a week. There's a lot more money to be made keeping the goose that lays golden eggs than by selling the goose.

Right.

I think that it's not difficult to make a program that, given a single word, examine every varation of:
Adiacent char switch (ex: nmaepros.com, namerpos.com, ...)
Single char skip (ex: nameros.com, namepos.com, ...)
Single char doubled (ex: nammepros.com, nameprros.com, ...)
Single char wrong typed (ex: mamepros.com, bamepros.com, kamepros.com, ...)
..etc..

And then check various search engines for the original word ("namepros") frequency against the new typo frequency; generating a sorted list with the number of times the word is misspelled.

At the end, only the user brain could decide if a typo is less frequent because people tend to correct it, or if it is more frequent because that word means something.. etc etc.

But i'm sure that there are lots of great programs around there..

Don't forget adding plurals where they shouldn't be (pizzashut, autosinsurance)
Or reversing "ei" and "ie" (sienfeld, freidchicken)

And dozens of other common mistakes.
