I submitted some domains for namejet auction consideration. Received a reply which contains the sentence

"We may be interested in these domains if you are willing to list without reserves. If listed without reserves, minimum bids start at $69 USD."

From what i have read on namepros, people submit names with reserves to avoid some names getting sold for too low. I am willing to go with no reserves on most of my submitted domains except 2-3.

Is this normal from Namejet?

I have never heard that specific situation on namejet but its very possible. The min purchase price there is the min auction price of $69 so they could have a buyer who wants to purchase at $69
IMO its always best to let it run at auction.

I have heard of namepros giving free banner ad promotion to top sellers. I have heard that they will come back to you and ask you to readjust prices (lower) if you resubmit names that didnt sell.
I have heard some brokers have lower commission fees than the standard 15% they offer.

I have even heard of namejet coming to sellers after an auction and saying they have someone interested in a name that was in auction but for a lower price. Which makes no sense. If you can contact namejet directly and ask the seller to sell it below the reserve whats the motivation to bid at auction?

So this is just another exception to the rule. There is no "normal" at namejet.
