Google Chrome refuses to visit the new .app domains without https

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
And their DNS option, is really just a redirection solution in a nutshell. And we can't work with redirection.

Donny

Well you do have options down the road when you move forward with this.

1a. See if LetsEncrypt will work with you.
1b(I). Kick your dev team in the butt and make them do it.
2b(II). Beat the zen garden.
2. Purchase a CA authority
3. Get the industry together to work on a common CA for these types of situations with the cost shared.
4. Ignore

Why would I lose a customer if a parked domain doesn't have SSL on it?

I would love to know.

Google doesn't index parked domains. Any other reasons?

The second one above I meant to put, but had to edit to add. (before your post)

In the meantime, wouldnt it be difficult to sell these to prospective buyers if even simple landing pages wont resolve due to ssl issues? Also - how many of these new domains are WHOIS private, plus WHOIS leaning toward privacy anyway... If someone is interested in getting in touch with the domain owner then it may be difficult until the SSL issues are resolved.
To sell - parking companies are not needed at all...
Just enable SSL cert at your .app registrar and then URL forwarding to any marketplace lander like Epik or Sedo (when .app will be supported by Sedo)...
And you may redirect to any lander... in which mode this lander works (http or httpS) - doesn't matter.

A lot of people are not tech savvy enough to do that themselves, but that is the solution. Hopefully all the Parking/Landing companies will catch up soon to help the less savvy out, and also simplify matters without the need for the external redirect.

We're almost there. Likely on Monday/Tuesday we'll launch SSL support for all domains parked with us.

Undeveloped.com, Flippa both are good to try

Undeveloped doesn't support https. Flippa is behind a paywall can't tell.

The only one solution today - URL forwarding to another destination...
But don't try to forward your .app domain to another parked domain - in terms of monetization this is prohibited by Google and will be banned.

Are you saying that you can't parking .app domains?
Just curious because I don't own any .app

Firefox doesn't allow by default. I use FF...
Only if you will add the required domain into Exceptions list.
Firefox ESR: mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/ (sorry can't post links yet)

If the parked page is a part of the parking service domain (like Undeveloped does) then this should be doable, no?

I'm no web guru so feel free to tell me to jump out a window.

Who wants monetization...
I see the only one way... ZeroClick at redirect.com - they allow plain forwarding from the one domain to another.

In brief...

1. Add Non-.app domain into your account and set nameservers:
ns1.pql.net
ns2.pql.net

2. At your .app registrar - enable/configure SSL-cert and redirect .app domain to Non-.app domain.

Undeveloped has a forced https option, I use it.

is this what you mean: Settings -> Host your for sales page on Undeveloped.com -> [Checkbox] Redirect your buyers to your internal marketplace for sales pages (By enabling this feature all traffic on your domains will be forwarded to SSL secure for sales pages hosted on Undeveloped.com)

it still does not work for me. i go on receiving "NET::ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID" messages as i try to access via chrome or ff.

i've tried several methods with undeveloped; i guess it's not possible to make it accessible via Chrome etc.

This Undeveloped option is for their own .com domain only.
It has no any relations to other domains.

Works for me in Chrome. I use it with no probs.

Browser doesn't matter here.

SSL cert must be enabled per .app domain.
Then you may forward it to any destination address, regardless of what mode is used by that destination (http or httpS).

You need to get a cheap hosting plan (unlimited domains) and add your domains to server. Add ssl to each domain and just redirect to undeveloped parking page.

Cost me like $4 / month using namecheap

This costs $0 with 1and1.
FREE SSL cert per .app domain, you should only activate it and that's all.

If you already have hosting you can get an SSL for free anyway. I just did one to test and it took less than 5 minutes and works fine.

You could try to use cloudflare as DNS servers and create a redirect rule in your dashboard to your parking page. They'll provide you with a SSL. Should work in theory but haven't tested yet myself.

saw that free activation on 1&1, thanks. however, you must have your own hosting for your domains in order to redirect them to global parking services, right?

because 1&1 says "i give this free SSL cert only if you have a 1&1 website associated with this domain, or if you wish to install this cert to your own hosting environment."

And again: you don't need to have any special hosting package with 1and1.
Just reg .app domain (FREE SSL cert included).
And URL/email forwarding is provided by 1and1 as well.
