Just wondering. I really want to make a personal site. Like a blog really or something. The .com is already taken. So only the .net & .org is avail.

The domain contains my name so i'm not worried about any trademarks or whatever.
Anyway which one do people use more if the .com is already taken?

I think .org is a nice choice for a blog (I kind of prefer them over .net)

.com. They add something to the domain name and see if that variation is available. Like TheWidget.com, IamJohnSmith.com or JohnSmithOnline.com. Stuff like that.

If that's not to your liking then .net is usually preferred over .org.

Has always regarded .org as one of the non-com gtlds that reflects trust and creditbility. Its actually quite popular for websites related to health and education. For sites that are distinctly informational i think .org works pretty well

.Org is supposed to be for organizations mainly charities .me is more personal basically for a blog you could just get the exact name on blogspot, blogger, wordpress, or weebly. If you can handle the small adverts for those sites. Might help you get what you want. Unless one of us here owns the dot com :)

.Net doesn't have an identity. It eats .com's leftovers. I would take .org any day over .net. I think your blog should be .com. Find another unique variation or creative name for you blog.

.org is fine

I would go with .org if your blog is serious. Meaning not the type of blog where you just post random BS but a blog that helps people regarding a certain niche. If kept professional then go for it. Otherwise go with a .com with added verbage.

.ORG is fine, as long as you post useful content and do SEO so that it fetch some traffic.

I use .info for my personal site as it makes sense to me.
When building up a project I tend to consider domain extensions for their correct purpose.
.org to me sounds like an "organisation" that you are not.

The content of your blog and the way you promote it are a thousand times more important than the domain extension - .org and .net are both fine and have familiarity going for them. Can't decide? Flip a coin - and start blogging!

Couldn't agree more with what @enlytend has added.

Both extensions are fine as long as you know what you are using them for.

Good day,
