Is it safe to register?

Hi all,

Following my last trademark problem i have been very careful.
But i have came across a VERY nice name but am not sure if i can register it.

The name has RO (ragnarok online) at the begining and i would use as a fan site, is this allowed? I know the owner of rstrades.com (runescape trades) got a law suit, but runescape are a much more powerful company. So i am really not sure wether i can reg or not, i would love to but i dont want a law suit!

EDIT: many other Ragnarok sites (even private servers) have RO in the name, so i do not see why i cannot use this name, and have registered it. The name was ROguides.com

Allow me to break down your reasoning here:

Premise 1: If company A is less powerful financially than company B , I am less likely to be pursued by company A for violating company A's trademark.

Premise 2: If I am less likely to be pursued by a company for violating its trademark, I can ethically and legally violate that trademark.

Premise 3: Ragnarok is less powerful financially than Runescape.

Ergo Conclusion: I can ethically and legally violate Ragnarok's trademark.

My advice: stop registering domains at least until you understand the problem with this reasoning.

Nameluxe summed it up well. The line that really annoyed me was the one that went "Other people do it, why can't I?"...

Not a great attitude to take. Just because someone else stole an orange from a shop, doesn't mean you should do the same, does it?

Yes i know, but i was looking through other fan sites, and most of them have Ro in the name, and have beengoing for years! So i am going to try and become an official fansite, then it shall be fine.
