I don't know if vbulletin has this kind of thing? but for the heck of it, i am going to ask.

Whenever you post something on the forum, on the left side of the post you have details, such as your name, title, number of posts, and the money you have. Is it possible to freeze it, rather than having updated. as you see, a lot of forums have this, you can see when they posted their first post to the title rank they had.

I just want this bcoz i think it would be great for me or anyone else who is interested to date their history back in namepros. I mean, i sure would like to see my first post in namepros, my first newbie question:laugh: on what was enom. It would be great, as we would know how we evolved from that. Its like tracing back history, as you would look at your childhood photos and look at yourself now.:D

is it possible?

* Also this question is for RJ as he is the Admin of the Forum.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

You could probably have a "Post #: 5" for example, but that would require you to change the database table settings. Because if i remember right, to count the number of posts by a user, it just uses SELECT * IN $posttable WHERE user = $username and then does a mysql_num_rows

I think if you did this you would have a hard time because its currently at one query and it would just be total heck to do it like that.

The forum makes one DB query per page load?!?!?

No I mean on the left under your username I beleive is one query. One whole page has like 50 querys.

No, this isn't easily done with vB.

At the moment 1 query is used to get your details (from the 'user' table).

If you want it to be static, the details would have to be stored with the post it self. It'd require quite a lot of hacking, and I doubt RJ would do that.

(FYI, showthread has around 18 queries per page, I think.)

Man thinking of it, that would take forever...

Technically it is possible with considerable modifications. I'd like to get a few other things finished on the site first though. Another thing would concern me is that people viewing old posts could possibly being outdated information on the member which may be confusing.

For the NamePros nostalgists, you can currently click someone's profile and view all of their posts, in order from the beginning if you wanted. You could see someone's progression that way.
