Is it possible to clean a domain name after a bad use?

I'm thinking about using a domain name in a negative industry (gambling or adult for example).

Would it be possible to "clean" that domain name's past (in search engines, possible bans, possible takeouts or negative PR) after some time if I would be to use this domain name in a good way in 4-5 years or its history is pretty much doomed after it?

I found some posts about this subject, but they were old. I see users suggesting to put a blank page to protect a page from negative parking, but could it "clean" a domain history and make it usable like if it was new after a while?

What is your take on this?

This blog article I found informative and helpful on your subject: http://blog.kissmetrics.com/penalized-by-google/ ... It appeared to cover most reasons for negative penalties with google anyways and has a resource at the bottom on where to contact google to request blocking harmful inbound links, clearing past history penalties, etc..

Disvow Tool: https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/disavow-links-main

Video from Matt Cuts on how to use the disvow tool properly:

That may or may not help with your research,
