Well, I am not a "domainers"(at the moment) and I am only looking for a good registrar to register a few domains, I saw some people recommend Fabulous.com here, and they don't seem to be a registrar that would "steal" domains like Godaddy but some people also mention that Fabulous.com is not so good for domains registration, because it is lacking in features and stuff.

So do you guys thinks they are good for domain registration?

I think Fabulous the best Registrar out there... My biggest reason for leaving Enom of 10 years was expired domains were pushed to the auction block shortly after expiration, Fabulous does not that, expired domains go through the whole redemption/pending delete process which gives the Registrant more time to retrieve the domain if they decide to..

100% FREE Whois Privacy Protection, Love it.

Fabulous is BIG on Security, bigger than Moniker in my opinion.

Best customer support of any Registrar I've seen.. You will actually have a human being contacting you, somebody who actually knows WTF their doing.. Unlike Godaddy or Enom where your sent a pre written response that doesn't address your needs.. Sound familiar?

Pricing: $9.99 a year for 0-100 domains, LESS if you have more domains;

Pricing Structure

Great interface/navigation, It's improved greatly over the years and they actually DO listen to your suggestions, I made 2 suggestions to their interface and they acted on both.
.
And NO, I do NOT work for Fabulous and I do NOT earn a penny for referring anyone.

The ONLY downside I've found with Fabulous is the list of TLD's they offer is short;
com .net .org .info .co .tv .mobi

Since most of my domains are .com, net and org, it's not a big deal.

As I said, I am not a "domainer", I don't buy and sell domains and stuff, I only use the domains for my websites, and the retail price that Fabulous charge is actually $29.95 and not $9.99..

But this is not a big deal as I am only ordering a few domains from them, and I don't mind paying that much if they are offering really good services. So the questions is, it is really worthy to pay $30 for the domain as a retail user? I mean, they are charging like two or three times extra comparing with most of the other companies out there.

I want to know if they are good for the retail customers? Do they offer features(like domain forwarding, subdomains etc)that satisfy the needs of the retail users.

Also, their staff here sounds really discouraging:
namepros. com/domain-registrar-reviews/658569-fabulous-is-worst-domain-registrar-ever.html #post3835160
As the staff even pointed out himself, that they are charging that much to discourage retail users from ordering from them. So I am worried that they don't actually care for their retail customers.....

So are they good for retail users?

$30 is a bit less than what register.com or netsol are charging.
If you have good/critical domains don't take a chance with a crap registrar, they deserve a safe place.
Over time maybe you will acquire more domains and you'll become a volume customer at some point. Then your rates adjust accordingly.
I recommend them too, but I'm a domainer. Not fond of their UI though.

Thanks for your reply:) but...

I don't think Fabulous really like retail users.

I sent them a couple of emails and ask them questions about how do they handle complaints and private data(as privacy is important to me) and stuff and they said this to me:
"It might be best if you use a different Registrar.":o:o:o:o:o:o

I guess it is a polite way of asking me to ... go somewhere else...?
(may be they got annoyed because I asked too many questions?)

I was really considered of using them before, since they are big company and members here seem to really recommend them, and I haven't heard of anything about them stealing domains so I thought my domains will probably be safe with them.

but now, they asked me to not use them...:o

what to do..

Why do you expect complaints ?
Do you operate a network of rogue websites like spam or counterfeit pharmacy ? I don't know what you wrote in your E-mails to them but maybe that's what they are thinking :)

Perhaps it's a misunderstanding, but they may have smelled trouble and clearly they don't want to deal with complaints. To put it bluntly, if you are looking for a new home because your current registrar kicked you out, any registrar would be wary of taking your business.

one other benefit:

if you reg names at fab and also park names there, then any earnings can go directly back to your account....which you can use to renew names or reg new ones.

contact them about lower reg fee

imo...

No, I am not planning to illegal things, like spam, counterfeit pharmacy :o and I don't have a current registrar, so no registrars have ever kicked me out...

I just read many scary stories about registrars release their customers info very easily after receiving complaints, or registrars suspend domains because of complaints, or registrar make their customers deal with fake complaints etc.
So I want a good registrar that will not do these kind of stuff to me.

Not to mention, you could get complaints even without doing illegal stuff, people could complaint about your site because of the things you say or your members say on your site....

Iam not planning to use the domains to make money... but thanks for replying anyway :)

I'm glad someone else posted his experience w/them, that's pretty much what they told me (that they didn't want me) the first time, my names are not all lousy and I didn't submit any tm-conflicted names or controversial ones (politics, porn) and yet they reject so many people

Even when I made it clear all I wanted was an alternative to Moniker for security with prices I could afford (and that I did not really care about their monetization program) they ignored me, they are a CLUB

Why be a member of NamePros if your not a domainer?.. I'm just curious.

So the questions is, it is really worthy to pay $30 for the domain as a retail user? I mean, they are charging like two or three times extra comparing with most of the other companies out there.

The price is retail, I know Registrars who charge more.. But since you don't care, what does it matter?.

I want to know if they are good for the retail customers?

As far price, obviously not,

Do they offer features(like domain forwarding, subdomains etc)that satisfy the needs of the retail users.

Yes and Yes

So I am worried that they don't actually care for their retail customers.....

It's true that Fabulous is geared more to the domainer, so if your not a domainer, then you should take their advice and look elsewhere, I say that because your more than likely never going to be happy.

they ignored me, they are a CLUB

And DNF isn't a CLUB?..

I agree theirs no excuse for being ignored, but I can safely say that Fabulous NOT once ignored a support request from me, However the only web site that DID and made a conscious decision to ignore reports for more than 2 years is DNF.

Use Moniker. It is leading registrar in domain industry of my opinion. Domain registration, renew, transfer, escrow and brokerage service. Access to Snapnames listing. Access to complete parking. great support. regular promo like .us registration is $3.99 recently. .co - $12.99, .com - $9.58, .net - $8.56, .org - $8.64, .info - $6.99, .xxx - $9.59. Domain security, whois, SSL Certificates, Web Site hosting, design.
