As the web enters the "Zettabyte Era" its as good a time as any to ask... Is domaining keeping-up with the times?
Overall, my answer would be No. For several reasons.
One reason, the market is still organized, and discussed, by extension classification... instead of Market Rank, like the Fortune 500.
For example, the first thing a visitor sees when they come to NamePros is .info and .mobi. Imagine if Fortune, or the stock market, listed companies in alphabetical order, by state, or country. This would not represent the actual 'state of the market'.
With new domain extensions coming online, in the Zettabyte Era, isn't it time market forums reflect the state of the domain market and organize around the market rank of extensions and keyword domain use?? IMO, of course.
So, in In Your Opinion... Is Domaining Keeping-Up With The Times?
