Hello,
Me and my associates are building a gambling/football betting portal. It is suposed to make a revenue from gambling and bookmaker affiliate links. For details on the project read this thread

With the project closing to an end, we are trying to figure out an affordable yet effective marketing aproach and my idea was to use the cheap and otherwise useless chinese traffic, that others sell for very cheap. Chinese traffic might be useless for many .com websites or businesses, but when it comes to gambling I don't think that they would differ from other types of traffic(UK or US).

I have the oportunity to get thousands of visitors from china(purchased traffic) and vietnam(targetted-banner based), for a fraction of the normal cost.

Another important fact is that our first advertising campaign is going to be based on the upcoming germany world cup. In my opinion, it is another reason to use chinese and vietnamese traffic, since world cup is watched by the whole world and almost every person on earth is interested in it.

Should I use that traffic? Is it of any use for this type of sites? Anyone with experience?

Regards,
Petros

p.s. is online gambling allowed in china and vietnam?

Gambling is regulated very strictly in both China and Vietnam. I've seen affiliate programmes issue warnings about using ads on sites with Chinese traffic. I've seen companies investigated by the authorities for the slightest hint that they might offer gambling services to people in either country.

I've never tried pushing gambling ads on any of my Chinese traffic sites though. The Chinese are click happy and have no cash, let alone credit cards. I'm sure you'll get lots of click throughs but I doubt this will translate into revenue.

I think its actually illegal to gamble at all in China, so it is probably worthless

I would block China in campaigns, and if you are talking about american football, limit campaigns to just the USA, and maybe Europe now, but that is still a stretch
