I was searching through the appraisal forums, and I discovered many regular appraisers were saying that .biz is probably their least favorite extension out of all the major ones (.com, .net, .eu, .net, .us, .info). Do you think this is true? I would think Car.biz would be better than Car.info.

biz isn't a good extension :imho:

The usual inet user doesn't know Biz's existence.

Biz itselfs doesn't means nothing.

Biz sounds ugly :p

Not many names fix well with Biz.

Companies likes com and org much more.

Users uses com, net, infos and ctld....then who will use biz's?

ATM, a lot of domainers have a lot of faith in the .info extension. It is even believed that it is possible to turn a greater ROI on a tier 1 .info in this day and age as opposed to a tier 1 dotcom simply because so many of them are priced so highly right now. With the recent €28,000 ($35,127) sale of Casino.info there is certainly a lot of buzz about what the future is going to hold for the extension. Many believe the prices will go up rapidly over the course of the next couple of years.

.biz on the other hand is a moderately good extension. The good .biz domains certainly aren't worthless, although they are currently not trading at the same level as .info. Even so, there is no question that the right .biz domains are moderately valuable commodities.

I sold a couple of .biz names for $4000.....Brandable end user....(Was listed on DNJ)...

As PPC/Revenue names probably not the best investment....

But I still buy them... hehe

i like .biz becuase, not alot of people go for them therefore you have a higher chance of getting a nice generic name like business, car etc.

However .info's have a buzz around them since the casino.info sale, can't remember how much exactly but everyone is thinking the prices will rise rapidly over the next 18 months.

Generally i prefer .com's however as all the good ones are drying up everyone is turning to the others and at the moment .us, .net etc are donig well and .info is up and coming. However these could become like .com's with all the good ones drying up and everyone will turn to the next one so .biz's price could rise dramatically even though i think they have a stable price currently and there is still some reasonable profit to be made on that extension.

It all depends on what you wish to do with the name. If looking to flip a .biz for big bucks the odds are slim.

If looking to develop as mini or full sites the name is more important than the extension. Without talking numbers which bigG doesn't like I have biz sites returning multiples of reg fee monthly from click thrus. None of them are high traffic but get nice click %ages.

But... I also have sites which will not produce no matter what. These get dropped. I renew those that return at least 10X reg fee/yr.

It is all relative with no guarantees -- I like the challange -- ain't a gettin rich but generating a monthly cash flow from less than 50 developed names. Can't seem to make anything from affiliate sites so giving that up.

BTW -- since this is about biz I just looked and my top 5 revenue names for this year are a .info, .com, .biz, .com and .cc in that order (these are not parked PPC sites and revenue is not from sales etc.).

For reselling purpose it's not good unless you have a pretty generic keyword .biz. For development purpose, fewer names fit the .biz ext well, .biz domains require specific business keywords so not much of a scope in here too.

I agree with Peter. buy only generic keyword or TLA's. Also, if i doesn't sound like a business, it probably doesn't have much value. I look at .biz currently as a buy and hold market. They are where .info was about 3 years ago. Don't pick names in narrow markets with only a few potential users. I have generic names like the following that could have a wide market of potential users, such as the following:

Extermination.biz
LaptopRepair.biz
IncomeTaxReturn.biz
BaitShop.biz
JobPlacement.biz

The above are large enough that there is probably several potential customers in every city. They are not fortune 500 type companies that will shell out 5-6 figures, but most small businesses could afford $500 to $2500 range prices, which is about what they'd pay annually for a yellow pages ad in a large city phone book.

In my eyes, the outlook for .biz isn't very good. If it's used to describe "business", it doesn't sound very professional, and seems like an outdated term. You'd have to have a nice generic term to bring any value at all. I can't even sell my domain noun.biz for low $xx (although I don't see the development potential).

The value of .biz is depends on us the domainers...
If we all want to push the value we can always post high prices for .biz
in the threads.
Thats how the LLL .com thing worked...
No?

I find this an odd comment. "Biz" is used frequently in the business world and constantly within the investment and media community. Neulevel could have gone with .business, but who wants an 8 letter extension?

Well, no wonder you're soured. No value in the name. .biz works very well for company names, medical, legal, industry, financial, geo locations, hotels, jobs, internet commerce, and general business. Noun is a dictionary word with no business appeal.

My point is, .biz works for more generic/industry terms rather than business names. From a consumer's point of view, .biz sounds unprofessional if your company's name is Orange Computer Repairs and you use the domain orangecomputer.biz. .com sounds more professional and .biz didn't match up.

Obviously you didn't read or understand the rest of my post with the explanation of noun.biz where I said it had no development potential, but some people "collect" domains with short or common words.
