My name is Anthony and I'm trying to start my career as a domainer and I was wondering if you could give me some advice. I'm 22 and finishing up college in about a year and I want to be on the right track when I finish up. I have no experience as a domainer and plan to do research for the next 3 months before I start putting some of this money to use. I'm in it for the long term and understand the value of patience. But I've been researching and I'm hoping there is a better solution for monetizing my domains besides parking them or taking the time trying to develop them into full websites. If I could find a good autoblogger and learn how to optimize it I feel that would be a good solution. I understand autobloggers get a bad rap due to their poor content, but I also hear a lot of good things too (people saying if done right can be highly successful). And I'm wondering what your thoughts are?

Don't berate me too bad ;). Also, since I'm so brand new, ANY advice about ANYTHING getting started would mean so much.

Thanks,

-Anthony

First, lets get one thing clear. Autobloggers are bots. Nothing that bots create will ever be creative, innovative, interesting (except for laughs) or attractive enough to attract traffic to a new, non-established blog.

Only way to ever successfully use autobloggers is if you already have an established blog but lack the time to update it. But even than if you use autoblogger often your traffic will slowly die away.

If you are interested in blogging, especially starting a fresh blog my recommendation is to pick a niche you are experienced in (whats your major?) and try to come up with fresh, unique content. Also, try to invest into some cheap advertising solutions (try to look for advertising coupons on ebay, you can get some good deals this way) to draw some initial traffic/readers.

As for advice about ANYTHING - Read EVERYTHING. And, yes, I do mean everything.

Autoblogging will seriously hurt the ranking and the domain name itself.

EX: It might even get banned from some places and some advertising networks.

Had a friend doing this on 500 domains back in 2007 and 2008. At that time he thought it was a great idea. Nowadays he doesn't even owns 5 domains :( I hope you understand the story.

Thanks.

Find a popular subject and do some autoblogging with that. I have a website that I have no original content and it's just a really popular subject right now. And just within a month, I've already paid for the domain which was at backorder cost and my reseller hosting account for the month. Just try it out for a little bit and see what you can do. If you're into just making money as simple and as easy as possible, just do trial and error runs. I am not creative and every niche that I can think of is seriously saturated with like minded people trying to make money. It just takes time. I try everyday to find some way to be creative so that I can bring something worth while to the table.

IMO creating your own unique content will generate quality posts which in turns your visitors are more likely to bookmark or subscribe your site. If your content is from bots, ie less creative/ unique, visitors landing on your site will just browse the content and leave. Not sure but even if you can get same amount of visitors both ways initially, I feel that recurrent visitors are more likely to share your site to their friends/family and browse more than just one post. I am not an experienced blogger so just take it with a grain of salt :)

You'd better pay someone to create you good original content and you'd do better. Quality content is really important and, by having your own paid editors, you'll be able to provide a constant flow of good articles, make sure they are top notch and also impress real visitors, not just the search engines. Paid content is now pretty inexpensive, so you can get good authors at good prices.

Why don't you want to fully develop a site? You'll find that most of the success stories about development are full blown product/service projects. Autoblogs and minisites are a constant struggle vs search engines and don't tend to earn much in comparison to a well thought out concept. Conversely, you might also just be better off not developing and spending your efforts on marketing your domains. Unless you're selling to another domainer, you won't be selling a premium domain for its autoblogging potential.

Is a bandwagon sagging with the weight of all the people who have jumped on it, worth jumping on?
