Is a .name worth renewing?

Hello all,

I own my first+last name as a .com and also as a .name. I've owned them both for 8+ years. However I wonder if it's worth keeping the .name version. It costs money to renew and it just doesn't seem to have caught on over the years. Should I just let it go and keep the .com version?

Other extensions of my name are still available (unregistered) as well (e.g., .net, .org, .co, etc.).

Thanks for your thoughts.

I personally wouldn't bother renewing it. In fact, If I wanted others, I would get all of those other extensions you mentioned as available before even considering a .name Heck, even a .me would be better than a .name, if I had the same first/last name as you and couldn't get the .com.

I've never bought or sold one, nor have I ever visited a website using a .name

Forgot that it was even an extension.

The point of having your own name domain is possibly a personal site or professional site where you are the brand, the latter instance is the only one where the concept of multiple tld registrations might apply for brand protection, but that would start with .net and .org and others long before you got to .name, but in a sea of a thousand tlds it becomes a pointless (or rather an expensive) exercise. Keep the .com, dump the .name, never look back.

Thanks all. My inclination was to dump it - and you've all convinced me to absolutely do that and without any regret! Much appreciated - can use that savings elsewhere.
