Is a general online directory better or a more specialized directory like directory specifically for blog only better?

i'm not sure if there is such a thing as a "specialized blog directory"

but in the context of search engines v. directories, it depends what you're looking for. if you want a list of official sites, directories are a good way to go. if you just want a bunch of sites that contain the keyword you are looking for, search engines are fine

the short answer to your question is: general directories

Find your niche and own it. Simple as that. You are not going to be a huge general directory. Too many big players out there.

Focus on high paying keywords and/or loyal audience.

Start something you want to do for five years.

general directory is easiest to promote.

specialized you need to stay within focus of that and before niche target owners submits, it has to be already an established specialized directory.

While submitting your website to directories, niche directories are better IMO because they provide relevant backlinks.
