Hey Pros,
I'm relatively new to the New Age of Domaining, though I did have one success almost a decade ago, when I sold "ClickAndBet.com" for $2,000.
I became re-involved, so to speak, about a year ago--when I realized GoDaddy.com was making money off the domains I had purchased and all but forgotten (but renewed just in case). I learned about the positives of parking and now have about 80 domains parked at Parked.com, ParkingPanel.com, and Bodis.com.
Only one of my parked domains has been been successful in terms of visitorship and clicks, "AShotofLove.com"--which is a "spin-off," so to speak, of the wildly popular MTV show, "A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila." Since I bought the domain name about 3 months ago, I've had an increasing amount of visitors each week. In December, for example, I've had 2,060 visitors with 1,373 clicks, and a CTR of 66.76. The December revenue so far is $106.20--or 8 cents a click.
From what I read on this most interesting and informative Web site, 8 to 10 cents a click is not that uncommon, with higher rates generated only when products on a domain site are much pricier.
As I say, more and more people are visiting this site (or maybe the same ones are visiting more often), and a sequel of the program is in the works. My question, then, is this--and it's probably been answered more than a few times here: Should I consider trying to hook up with an affiliate or use a service like Adsense to "optimize" the popularity of my one successful Web site?
I'm not turning my nose up at a dime or so a click (it sure beats what my domains were making while "parked" at GoDaddy), but it seems to my right-brained mind that I should be able to increase my profit. If you check out www.AShotofLove.com I think you'll see how it might appeal to a certain segment of the population, and that certain advertisers might welcome this group with open arms.
Thanks in advance for any words of wisdom!
