I have to respectfully disagree with all of the appraisals so far. I was a pioneer in the online poker industry (me and my little brother invented online poker tournaments back in 2000 with Pokerspot.com) so I'm in a unique position to appraise this one. And brother, you have a real gem here.
Internet Poker is definitely here to stay. It's true what they've said so far... PPC revenues are down quite a bit since the passage of the UIGEA and adsense revenues are non-existent since they won't allow gambling-related sites. But poker affiliates who are doing CPA deals are printing money. And there is a huge push to legalize online poker in the US, which would completely revitalize the industry and bring some MAJOR players into it... like Harrahs or possibly even companies that make Harrahs look smalltime (i.e. Microsoft, Google, Yahoo). At change.gov, they had a thing going where people would submit the issues they wanted to see changed... they were going to compile the top issues into a brief and give it to Obama to read. "Legalize Online Poker" was number 7 or 8 on that list. Even more promising is that Obama plays poker and has admitted to reading Daniel Negreanu's blog. Daniel and Phil Hellmuth actually got to meet and talk with him during his campaigning. His winning the election was a huge win for poker, as McCain is from Arizona and his fellow senator Kyle was the one who has been pushing to criminalize online gambling and poker for years. There could be very good things in store indeed for the poker industry in the next four years.
"InternetPoker" dot ANYTHING is worth a good amount to an end-user. And the .biz extension is a HUGE plus... I'd take the InternetPoker.biz over InternetPoker.ws or InternetPoker.cc or pretty much any other extension except for .com (obv), .net, .org, .tv, and the major country code extensions. When a domain is registered in .tc and .at and .bz and .ms, you know it has value.
The reason the .biz is NOT a minus in this case but in fact a PLUS is because it is well suited to developing an online site focusing on the business side of the poker industry... industry statistics, yearly revenues, growth numbers, operator bios, the history of the industry, etc. I'd guess it's a $5 billion industry right now. And it's only going to continue to grow.
The ads that you'd be able to put on a site like that which is focused on the BUSINESS of poker would be targeted towards a much higher class of customer. If you could find a gaming software company which was trying to find skins and would give you a rev-share de8al, you could potentially make millions off of a single visitor. Example : if PartyPoker LLC had an rev-share program to find affiliates for them and you were the one who referred EmpirePoker to them. I know the guy who owns StartCasino.com and I'm pretty sure he makes bank.
So to sum it up... I'll agree with the former appraisals as far as reseller value. You probably wouldn't get more than low $xx if you listed here on the NP live auction. But to an end-user, I'd appraise this domain name anywhere from $5k all the way up to $50k. And if you held it for about ten years, I think you'd find those prices would go up about 10x.
I would personally be willing to push this to sedo for you for the $60 min bid if you are in the mood to sell it. It will definitely attract some end-users there. I'm not really in a position personally to participate much in the bidding war that would probably ensue, because I'd guess the reseller value just at a sedo.com auction with absolutely zero promotion on your end would probably be mid $xxx to low $xxxx.
On a side note, the #1 issue on the Change.gov site was "Legalize Marijuana". So if you toke, I'd advise you to roll a fatty and congratulate yourself on a great pickup.
Just out of curiousity, how did you come about the name? Was it a drop?
