It's a .CM, so I know you're probably rolling your eyes right now, but I did some research one night and saw some decent sales of .CM domains, a notable one being LasVegas.CM for about $21k.

The domain I picked up is internet.cm - do you think I would be able to sell it? I was thinking maybe a Cameroonian ISP would be interested. Forgive me for my ignorance if this seems a bit optimistic to you, but I'm a noob at all this.

I may have made a mistake in buying it, but if I have, it's all part of the learning curve.

Interested to hear your thoughts.

It's not the value itself high, it is the value compared to other similar services that makes it high,
So. with $100 you can have much more choices (probably better choices).
That's why $100 is high.

Two points: that sale was years ago I suppose. Today .cm domains hardly ever sell.
The biggest selling point anyway lies in type-in (typo) traffic.

Also, keep in mind that Kevin Ham had the opportunity to wildcard the whole .cm TLD to monetize the traffic, before .cm was released to the public. Which means anything left available to register is probably not worth the money in terms of traffic.

Thanks for the feedback. I've since put the domain on Flippa - we'll see if anything comes back.

The beauty of domaining is the "unpredictable" results, some awkward names sells unbelievable and some good ones sold on bargains, when you bought that name you might be considering that Cameroon companies will might have a good interest in buying it. The good thing is, every country, every cities around the world uses the internet and there is a good chance in selling it, but not sure how much. I myself registered some gtld's but on the country I am well familiar with.

.cm are good for .com typos, however despite the super-premium domain name, internet.com probably doesn't see that much type in traffic as its a pretty poor website, waste of a decent domain IMO. Of course, no doubt many are curious what the website is all about so try various names and perhaps in some neck of the woods its a very sort after website... so typo might be possible traffic... although you are probably more likely to typo "internet" rather than the domain extension no matter what anyone says (this said I am always doing .co.uk wrong from time to time lol but its probably more likely "vom", "cim" or "co,")

You might be able to monetize it to get the renewal fee back each year... but I think some end user would be really interested in this and there is still some nice profit in if for you. Not mega money but a nice profit.

Areas of specific possibility (other than generally have a short extension and "internet" ) is Content Management, Connection/Communications/Command/Configuration Manager, Control Monitor etc. but it really is a long shot.

I missed this. A good move, this sort of domain name is made for flippa! $300 is very promising.

Thanks! I'm wondering if my reserve of $1,200 is a little optimistic. When I first bought the domain name I felt really positive about it but the interest so far has been a little slower than expected.

Fingers crossed. If it doesn't meet the reserve you are likely (especially if loads of people have bidded on it) to be contacted with someone making you an offer. How long has it got left? I believe you are able to lower the reserve, but its largely a waiting game.

Just under 8 days left, 2 bidders so far.

You should first hope the bidder is going to pay

what does Vegas have to do with Cameroon? .. that sold for 20k ... or Miami? .. the interest is not because of Cameroon as you already know, its to do with how close it is to .COM

That market seems to have dried up completely and people don't seem to want it for the mistypes any more.

still begs the question how lasvegas.cm sold for 21K ?

Have you monitored how much traffic you received over the last couple weeks on internet dot cm ?

Because that was a few years back when people seemed to think it was a good idea.

And I'm not able to as I've had to change the DNS records on it so that I could list it for sale on Flippa.

21K for a typo seems a little ridiculous to be honest. Some domain sales make me so confused. Everyday I look at sales and think to myself... "how lucky is that" .. I hope a couple of people bite and you get a big sale mate.

I'm new to this too and it's a total minefield sometimes. Often luck plays a big part I feel.
