Interesting Use For A Short " - " Domain

Saw a link pointing to www.sj-r.com , the web site for the State Journal Register, which bills itself as the oldest newspaper in Illinois. Just thought it was interesting, a domain where you could not possibly guess the contents of the site from the domain itself, that contains a dash.

another Illinois newspaper has a nice, short domain name. www.BND.com

That is an interesting domain, don't like the dash though.

Don't know how cool this domains is, its just that its very short and sweet. But regarding SEO value, dashes and numbers might not bring you a penalty from Google, but certainly won't give you any advantages.

Plus domains with a dash are harder to be explained verbally and might lead to confusions and therefore loss of traffic. Especially if the same domain exists without the dash
